Where did you download them? I downloaded them from vimm and some other site I don't use anymore because they weren't in an iso format. I then used extract xiso to make new isos so they run on xemu.

Thief Deadly Shadows, both KOTOR games, Jade Empire, Splinter Cell games, Deus Ex 2, Project Gotham Racing, Blinx, Republic Commando, Psychonauts, Dark Corners of the Earth, Curse of Darkness, Conker, Crash Nitro Kart, The Wrath of Cortex, Darkwatch, Fable, Futurama (if you like the show), the first two Harry Potter games aren't bad adventure / collectem-ups, Malice, Stubbs, The Suffering, Jedi Knight series, Red Dead Revolver, Sands of Time, Midnight Club, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Galleon.
Those are games I remember owning or borrowing and completing.

Not many of those are Xbox exclusives, there were plenty of PC and other console ports out there. The xbox versions main advantage was it usually looked a bit sharper and might run a bit better than the PS2 or GameCube version and some of the PC ports would have virtually no effort put into changing the UI and control scheme to better suit a PC or even just support controllers on PC.

It is and has always been a pain in the arse to do anything with the OG xbox harddrive, you've got to get a bunch of system files off the slow ass 8gb drive and its password protected so you can't just whip it out and replace it. There was talk about a drive emulator since most Xbox dvd drives have a very high failure rate but I've not heard anything about it since well before COVID. Even the 360 drive emulator project (that was shown working) went away because of covid and a general lack of interest because softmodding and mod chips are cheaper.

Apparently I just need an 80 wire ide cable as opposed to the stock 40. Apparently my max is 2tb, but honestly I can't see myself going over that. Past that I just gotta figure out how softmodding actually works. I had a guide at one point and I IIRC it involved some kind of save game exploit.

From what I have read, with a modchip I just need to burn a dvd with hexen and connect the new hdd and the programs in the disc will make it work

My retro game store has a buy 2 get one free sale. I went there and checked out the 360 backwards compatible list. Only thing I'd want to play was jet set radio which they didn't have. Og Xbox is only good for playing the best looking multiplatform games like the other anon said. I ended up just buying sonic mega collection plus.

They do, just insulate the rear that connects to the hdd with insulation tape. Mine cost me £4 and I'm running a 2tb on a rocky 5 softmod. You can play Blinx, Ninja Gaiden Black, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and the GunValkyrie games on the series s/x which are all great games. Unfortunately what you can't play are the Outrun games and jet set radio future which are also fantastic, so those would be a good excuse for an original console

I only recently got around to playing this as a huge fan of the original NES trilogy. It was shocking how bad it was. All the speed and flow of the original games is gone, it's super slow and tedious. The combat system itself is enjoyable but turning it into some sort of metriodvania lite was a huge fucking mistake. The game completely fails to capture that same energy and momentum from the originals, and plays and feels like one of the countless early 2000's action games.

forgot to write that xbox was a very wel-hyped console and special in that it was as close to getting a pc-gaming experience as console plebs could possibly have during the twilight of the PC gaming supremacy. I think a lot of that had to do with it being Microsoft's console and development for it was apparently quite similar to developing for pc.
It was also a spiritual successor to the Dreamcast (hence Shenmue & Panzer Dragoon) so it got another great built-in library so to speak.

Pretty far along, a lot of games are working now and it's good enough that Insignia tests stuff on it (in addition to real hardware obviously)
