It's fair to say "I call it hydro city because I think it sounds better" or "I always assumed that the space missing was just a mistake so I say it as if there were one". But those are opinions and nothing more. People who insist they are objectively correct on either side are the real retards.

People who remember them and still insist an alternate pronunciation is correct are retards, but it's still legitimate for people to pronounce things another way out of personal preference or lack of knowledge so long as they don't insist it's the correct way.

My point is that the English language is full of words where the technically correct way of saying things goes against what would be expected, particularly when you add different dialects into the mix. It's unreasonable to expect everyone to say things the technically correct way because language isn't some firm set-in-stone thing and you'll actually end up looking dumber going against the commonly accepted convention. Its even more retarded to insist people say things against common sense when there's no definitive right or wrong answer, as is the case with Hydrocity.

Honestly I find myself siding with the hydrossity side more simply because they are the only side that's reasonable.
