As gay as it is, I did get a little sad thinking about that. All the 1k+ page discussions about Shadow of the Colossus on forums when the game was new.
There was so much wonder and mystery. The game was full of mysterious shit, and it was left to you and a council of internet nerds to interpret it and search for more.
Nowadays, within a day or two, everything has been cracked and examined through a microscopic lense. There will never be games with so much mystery and wonder anymore.

Also Square Enix was planning to make the game more "epic" (Mario was going to ride a horse at some point) before Miyamoto saw what they were doing. I think it's cool. They've also found many of the original texture sources, so they're using the original uncompressed textures wherever possible. Having a Mario game based on the 3D renders was always a dream of mine so it's cool that someone's doing it.
