Some games can't be put on flash cartridges. You're buying those games, right anon?

Flash carts are limited to games that don't need specialized hardware. Certain games that requires special chips or sensors are usually incompatible in this case or have reduced functionality.

The most common case in the early days of GBA carts I believe was related to Pokemon and the Real-Time Clock for the games Day/Night system.

Botkai, as of now, was originally hard to play because it had a solar sensor, which was circumvented by mapping the sunlight sensor.

I recall that Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble had a motion sensor and could not be run on cart because it was unable to replicate that functionality and no workaround.

Don't forget warioware twisted.
Also there's the snes games with chips but those can be emulated with the newer flashcarts.

collecting being bad value is such a meme. realistically any game you buy will appreciate in value and once you're done playing it (or just looking at I guess) literally any retro store will throw you cash or credit you can blow (or freerole, if its gone up) on another game or a complete box + manual version. also you can trade with friends or at retro cons. there's a lot of fun in trading collectables. its almost as if someone should make a game around collecting and trading...

Almost all games are covered now, chips are emulated, accelerators, rumble, etc is all included on flash carts

I only buy ultra kino games that have nice manuals, maps, or other inserts and I also buy official game guides for them. For example, I recently bought Link to the Past and Metal Gear Solid complete in box, and also picked up the official guide for Pokemon Crystal. I'm just very selective and don't worry too much about value because I only buy the classics which are bound to go up.

In other words, if a physical copy doesn't enhance the experience in some way, I just torrent it. Practically all of my consoles are modded or have flash carts so you are not alone.

I bought a few real carts while waiting 2 months for my Everdrive. When I get round to selling them, I'll get at least what I paid. There's nothing wrong with collecting a few games that are meaningful to you. But keep it reasonable.

>accelerators
Accelerometers*
And no they haven’t, there are a few games that will most likely not have the native function for a while at least

I've done pretty much what you do. I've got a good Dreamcast collection and now only play my Dreamcast that has an ODE installed.
Similar situation with the SNES, though I use a Everdrive with my NTSC SNES, while the majority of my games are in PAL.
At the end of the day, I could always just sell my stuff. I absolutely won't though.

Idk anon I do the same shit. I have like 300 usd in gameboy carts and just bought a flashcart, mad debating selling it for more hardware like a virtual boy. Also have a pokemon n64 and gold n64 gathering dust in my closet alongside a wonderswan and two niptendo gamecubes and cib majora I never got around to playing. I think I just want hardware now like limited edition consoles.

Stop right there anon. Just stop at the part that makes you happy and enjoy that part of your life. Collect games anon. That's a fun hobby. I collect, I also play on flash carts.
