Favorite retro ROM hacks?

The improved controls hack for Earthbound is pretty nice. They may have talked about it in that video.

The improvement patches for Mega Man X5 and X6 are pretty nice. Even X6's biggest defenders tend to be like "yeah I have a save with all the reploids and nothing else". Might as well cut out the middleman.

Free Enterprise for Final Fantasy IV, gives you an airship right off the bat and randomizes things, so it becomes open world. T-Edition for FFVI seems awesome too, but I haven't played much yet.

If you like Pokemon & Fire Emblem then there's shit tons of improvement mods and fangames to check out.
Also, what game is that?

>>9048220
Thanks I know about a lot of Pokemon ROM hacks but barely about any others, mostly looking for something else, Metroid fangames or remakes, other games, etc.

It's from here, mentions game too

T-Edition is very good, but I would only recommend it to a seasoned FF veteran. You really have to be familiar with the series as a whole to get maximum enjoyment. The difficulty gets pretty gnarly in the WoR, too, though if you've played FFVI a gorillion times like I have, it's definitely a welcome change of pace, since you can't abuse the game like you normally could. And the extra content is very nice and for the most part doesn't feel out of place.

Do you think they gave any of the ad revenue from this video to the people who made the content they showed off?

>mfw it's been over a year since Pokémon CrystalDust got canned and nobody is working on continuing it.
I just wanted a remake of Gen 2 with the speed of Gen 3 and the mechanics from the later gens.

Ultra shiny gold sigma is a gba remake of gold and its everything i need in a pokehack. Unpoke related, try wario land 4 parallels for a full blown redux of the original game. And be sure to check metroid and castlevania hacks too. Those two series alone should give you plenty to experiment with.

Mother 3 Translation is the most obvious choice, but I wouldn't be surprised if you've already played it.
Golden Sun Reloaded is pretty great and makes you actually have to use some strategy in the fights other than summon spam.
Pokemon Rocket Edition is a fantastic hack that completes what Toxic Purple attempted to do.
