I love them only when they are pump-action or something similar. The more human input the firearm need, the bigger soul each kill has.
I also love revolvers for the same reason. Shotguns and revolvers.
Revolving shotguns are, obviously, top of the line. They are criminally underrepresented and only several games have'em. None of which are retro, unfortunately.

I think it's likely based on a cultural difference.
Rare is based in the UK, their military uses bullpup rifles since the late 80s last time I checked.
As for the neighboring state of Ireland, they use bullpup rifles as well (the AUG).
Looking at the Dragon and Super Dragon, this theory is supported considering they're used in Area 51 - an American Military Base.

the only singleplayer missions that work fully are silo, frigate, and egyptian (possibly aztec, i don't remember).
it's mostly a multiplayer mod prior to the last update.
like most goldeneye related projects, it's probably dead.
