dropped, any translation where the tr*nslator does retarded shit like this for phrases like 今から/今日から/etc is automatically trash to me. this isn't even the worst shitty translator tier way of doing it either, but it's still cringe.

Minor "mistakes" (not necessarily incorrect) like this herald far bigger issues to come. Therefore it is my prerogative to be pedantic.

I see people say this a lot but I don't understand why. The story feels incomplete without it and I don't really get what's so bad about it to begin with. Although my memories of Snatcher are pretty foggy

I was expecting to be blown away by the music from what everybody was saying but so far I'm kind of underwhelmed. Are there better tracks further into the game? I'm playing the Sega CD version but the music honestly sounds like the genesis could produce that by itself.

This is the only song I remember from the entire game but it's honestly so good that I don't care

It ties up loose ends and is better than having no ending, but it's decidedly inferior.

-The reveal of A Certain Person's parentage is awful. Why would you kill someone off (and milk it for tragedy, having failed to build any audience investment in the character) and THEN try to make it important in the aftermath? Shockingly bad, unimpactful, and the biggest misstep of the VN, IMO.

-Deducing the location of the Snatcher hideout in a five minute conversation out if nowhere is limp AF. It should feel like a climactic reversal that's satisfying, hard-won, and exciting. Instead it feels like "Oh, yeah, cool. Let's go get 'em. I guess."

-One of the most enjoyable parts of Snatcher was piecing clues together yourself. Part 3 just throws answers at you, so there's no sense of satisfaction/vindication as you steadily unravel things.

-One of Snatcher's biggest strengths is how well it pulls you into Neo Kobe. Part 3 takes place in an underground bunker whose design I barely remember, and which introduces only one new character (who is very lame).

-Characters you are expecting to see go somewhere (e.g., Mika) don't. It's just very dissapointing.

>>9008115
Yeah, that's the standout. "Pleasure of Tension" and "Stairway to Hell" are the only other ones I'd go back to. That said, other tracks work in the VN fine. They're just not worth listening to outside it.

>>9008083
It feels rushed and an afterthought compared to the rest of the game, otherwise I agree with you, it provides a conclusion where there otherwise wouldn't be one. Can't imagine how pissed Japanese players were when the game ended on a cliffhanger in the MSX2 and PC-88 versions with no conclusion to speak of until the PC Engine CD version.

Nah, it ends this game's story but leaves some plotlines open for a possible sequel (with other Snatchers still alive, Gillian's memory, etc.)

Most Japanese players back then thought that the ending to the PC-8801/MSX2 version was a cliffhanger for a sequel and I've seen a lot of criticism towards Act 3 from Japanese oldfags (including Hideki Kamiya) who actually played the original versions back in the day. Even Kojima himself acknowledged criticism of Act 3 in a magazine article.

>>9008419
Kojima is actually quite a bookworm if you actually follow his Twitter account and he has acknowledged William Gibson and other authors in the past. In fact, the subtitle for the PC Engine version of Snatcher (CD-ROMantic) came from Neuromancer.

Also, keep in mind that the canceled sequel to the PC-8801/MSX2 version was supposed to be a much longer and complex story than what Act 3 ended up being, which was just a cliff notes of that canned project.

Snatcher's story is nothing like Blade Runner aside from the whole "detective hunting robots" angle. Most of its similarities are more visual.

I want that Gibson prequel voice drama to be made into a game but a sequel could be nice, too.
To be honest, I haven't played Snatcher in literally two and a half decades, longer than many of you cunts have even been alive, so if I played it now, it may be like the first time all over again.

Interesting to hear that Kamiya was a fan and didn't like act 3. I guess now that I think about it a sequel would've been way better than a third act retroactively added to the game, but I'll take act 3 over nothing at all

>Even though the PC-8801 version of Snatcher is unfinished, the ending, which stirs up an image that foreshadows a grand-scale drama that lies ahead is amazing. On other hand, I looked down on Act 3, where all you do is push buttons and watch things unfold passively, as a creatively useless addition. Because of that, I recommended everyone to experience the PC-8801 or MSX2 version.

Where Act 2 ends.
The non-CD versions even had a different ending song which goes unused in the later versions.
