It's one of the Big Three of the Golden Age of Arcades, what else can be said about it than hasn't been said yet?
It's pretty addictive and challenging and even today people are fighting for the best score.

absolutely brilliant game, one of those few games I will always come back to and it's always fun. The random elements keep things interesting, while still keeping the game fair. I bout a switchable 4-way 8-way arcade stick just to play it on mame

Loving this promo art with the flat colors & super clean inking. The game is fun too but haven't actually played it in a while.

What makes this extra fucking hilarious is the fact that Universal had, just a few years prior, sued RKO arguing that King Kong was effectively in the public domain. So not only did they lose their suit against Nintendo, they ended up getting slapped with a "bad faith litigation" judgment from the court and ended up having to pay punitive fines and all of Nintendo's legal fees.

It's a fun game. Simple, enjoyable, and challenging without being so hard as to make you rage quit.
It's not a bd game by any measure. It's not he greatest arcade game ever made, but it sure does stand out.
