Just picked up a Saturn. What games should I start off with?

The life of a Saturn owner is not easy

Die Hard Arcade
Fighters' Megamix
Last Bronx
Guardian Heroes

Sonic R is a piece of shit, friend. Don't do it. DON'T DO IT.

I actually enjoyed that game as a kid on the PC. I think it was music. It felt so joyous and 90s. CAN YOU FEEL THE SUNSHINE! BRIGHTEN UP YOUR DAY.

I have next to no games for the saturn and I never see them at the flea market I go to. Is really the only hope to find them are on online?

I was thinking of soft modding my saturn but I haven't solder in years and I think mine is a model 1. And I never really taken apart electronics before like that. I live a major metro area, would it be possible for me to find someone to mod it for me? Or should I really just man up? You're the only one who knows all the answers.

Do you have to have a special controller for the dreams into nights game?

>> No.896971

>>896961

Youi don't need to mod it if you can find and Action Replay (assuming you wanna mod to play imports).

>> No.896972

I was going to suggest a mod chip, but Racketboy has gone full happy-merchant and more than doubled the price of mod chips on his site.

There's always the swap trick. It's not as bad as people make it out to be, but a mod chip is SO much less hassle.

>Action Replay

I want to mod to play CD-R games to try out the Sonic Extreme build, only that... totally...

I recommend picking up one of these; it's a 4-in-1 device that fits into the back cartridge slot which functions as a cheat device(yawn), extra save space, RAM expansion for graphically demanding Capcom fighting games, and, most importantly, lets you play any game regardless of region, useful for the great import games.

There was one they made for it, but it isn't mandatory.

>> No.896983

Die Hard Arcade (Beat 'em up)
DoDonPachi (Shmup)
Initial D (Racing)
Lupin III: Sage of the Pyramid (Action)
Sonic R (Racing)
Street Fighter Zero 3 (Fighter)
Virtua Cop 1 & 2 (Shooter)
Virtua Fighter 1 & 2 (Fighter)

I'm a hardcore Saturn fan, but even I'll admit that the best route is getting a modchip.

Well, unless you're made of money.

Just make sure you get one of the SEGA backup cartridges. The Saturn has built-in memory, but if you're planning on having a library of games you'll need it. Especially since NiGHTS takes up almost the whole thing with its A-Life save. Other than that, you'll definitely want to pick up a 3D controller. Best controller hands down.

Good starter games:

NiGHTS Into Dreams
Sega Rally
Saturn Bomberman
Guardian Heroes
Panzer Dragoon (First one or Zwei)
VirtualOn
Burning Rangers

I recommend Powerslave aka Exhumed. Adventure oriented FPS with smooth engine and enjoyable controls, showing that the Saturn could have good 3D games.

There is a worldmap and you come back to previous levels after finding powerups to find new paths and reach new exits

Why do people make threads like this when they can just google "good games for saturn" and get comprehensive lists?

he's excited that he bought the ultra obscure sega saturn and he wants to show off this off to his fellow 4 channelers that he is super cool and hardcore

>> No.897048

Darius Gaiden is a totally cray cray psychadelic shooter. The Saturn conversion is also very good.

The only game missing and that I want in that list is Keio 2.. I just can't bring myself to pay £150 for it.

It's all right, I just splurged on a copy of Radiant Silvergun, I won't be buying much for a while. Just save your extra.. pence? You'll have it in no time.
