So some modders got together and repackaged the original + Rogue Spear + all the mission packs + the exclusive Korean-only mission packs translated into english, all into one big game- Rainbow Six Black Ops 2.0.

https://www.moddb.com/mods/rainbow-six-black-ops-20
And it’s got working multiplayer! Anyone here wanna play some coop or pvp?

>> No.8950317

I have this already and would love a /vr/ ops team. Could be cool.

i didn't play very many of the sequels. does this still have the pre-mission planning waypoints and shit?

Should note if you're have a g sync enabled monitor you need to disable g sync for the games to run.

I can see the crosshair but where's the gun?

>> No.8950395

there IS a texture pack for this game, but some of the hostages in the single player portions aren't correctly rendered. There are fixes of course, but I couldn't get them to work for myself.

This really is a great bundle though. Trying to get Rogue Spear and the original R6 to work is a giant pain otherwise. You'd have to get dgvoodoo and so on to get them to work marginally regardless.

Well yeah, the originals were obviously only x86 but what about this mod? The summary says "Features of Rainbow Six Black Ops 2.0:
Game features own registry keys and fixes, allowing it to be played on Windows 11/10/8 x64 soon after installation."
It doesnt say anything about compatibility with x86 systems.

isn't it presumed? 64 is backwards compatible with 32
these games are 32 bit games

Not him but I did play that version and I remember it being awful thanks to the controls. Doubt the 64 version was much better but when you're spoiled by the PC releases it becomes kind of obvious how botched those ports are.

It was the best of the console ports but it was a below average Dreamcast title. Used Windows CE and lacked VGA support. Rouge Spear on Dreamcast was much better and had better control as well.

In the first one not too bad. Not as good as SWAT, but if you plan carefully your teammates are not complete retards.
In Rogue Spear the enemies were quite absurd though, sniping you with a handgun from hundred of meters.

>>8950794
have both and the n64 has a 2 player split screen mode. It doesn't have all the missions or allow as many operatives to be fielded at once. It does have the mission planning and some expansion missions too. Very faithful to the PC.

The dreamcast is a exact port of the PC. The problem is mapping all the controls to a DC controller. You'll have to practice terrorist hunt extensively to get the hang of it. I'd say the n64 version may control better

Well, this revision actually runs whereas the other one didn't so this is great. Will have to download that multiplayer package but for now it's wild playing this in widescreen.

It's worth playing, of course not as the definitive way. Its quite different and as far as ps1 shooters go its not the best... but I played a lot of it as a kid and have appreciation for it. Two big downsides are that framerate is quite low, and controls are convoluted as fuck. Shoulder buttons to aim up/down and combo inputs for reloads and other actions. You can get the hang of it quickly, its just different. There is also no waypoint planning and you only have 3 operators, those you dont control wait at the spawn, you play solo.

Good things it has going on... Atmosphere and its challenging.

No, it's a standalone release. Just install and play. Red storm entertainment hasn't existed for years.

>> No.8954880

Holy fucking based. Rogue Spear was one of the first shooters I really fell in love with. I was 10 years old when I got it, must have been 01 or 02. The game would run on a goddamned toaster at that point so my shitty goodwill compaq ran it with no framerate issues. This game made me a gun nut and as far as I'm concerned was unmatched in terms of R6 games. R6 Ravenshield might have been better on paper but the maps were worse, there were less weapons and the 3d models looked like absolute dogshit even back in 2003.

The first level at the museum, and the belgian airplane hostage level. NOTHING compares to those two levels in terms of tactical shooters IMO. I remember in the airport level you had to set up a sniper shot and time it exactly with the other members of the team flash-banging the terrorists because if they got spooked they'd kill the hostages.

Can't wait to play this again.

>> No.8954924

The weapon models in that one looked better than Ravenshield honestly.

Hated that one mission where you couldn't be seen or let anyone find a body tho

>> No.8955082

Does anyone remember Black Arrow? Used to have no crossing sniper matches on like the jungle level where everyone agreed to stay on their sides. Had to sneak around different points to try and catch people in their positions. Pretty tense, never played multi like it before or since. I think it was Black Arrow. Also bump.

>> No.8955139

>>8955082
I only ever got 3. Didn't even know they released a spinoff of sorts. I just remember the weapons in 3 honestly being pretty damn satisfying to use. The sniper rifles felt particularly meaty at times.

>> No.8955151

>>8954880
I played those two missions over and over again until my cousin came over once and showed me how to play multiplayer on MSN gaming zone. That shit worked incredibly well even in dial-up.
