Does anyone know if GCCX or Arino himself has a Miiverse page already? Since they're apparently accepting Miiverse posts for the live challenge I wonder how easy it'll be to see the results from their web portal.

First draft of the ‘The Genji and the Heike Clans’ translation is finished, I'm going to take a break, go back to it with fresh eyes and try to post it later tonight or early tomorrow.

I said before that giving people a week to edit it or suggest corrections would be best, but as the revenge challenges are only 20 minutes or long, do people think 3-4 days would be enough?

It's highly variable. Anywhere from a few hours to a couple days.

There really is no "too much" here. Anything less than a week will be too fast for everyone to get the time to look at it. It should be a week for short special episodes and considerably longer for full episodes. A standard episode isn't just "three 20-minute episodes" in difficulty. It's much more complex. More signs to erase. More precise timing. More people talking over each other. More variety in segments. More research needed for localized game terms (multiple games mentioned each episode). More chances for misheard lines (especially in noisy arcades). We need to take our time.

So, what are they going for in the DKC2 challenge? Basic victory at The Flying Croc, or are they going to make him suffer through the Lost World as well? From what I've heard, it's not going well at all, so I really hope it's not the latter.

Using the first draft to prep the timing and stuff like that is good, but you should probably make a habit of completely re-pasting the text from the FINAL version only. Different projects will have different amounts of corrections, so you should adopt a standard practice. It's not a good idea just to patch in the edited parts. From my experience, something ALWAYS gets missed that way.

- Unlike the Mystical Ninja script, laughter, gasps, etc, aren't on this one.

- Rather that type full names for spoken lines, I used abbreviations. The key is at the top of the first page. I'll be keeping these consistent in other projects.

I would personally use TurboGrafx-16. More people know the console by that name.

For Zelda games, they have to cut out an extremely large amount of footage to make an episode. This leads to bad editing choices and a poorly presented final product, especially for people who know the games well and want to see their favorite parts. On top of that, to save time, the ADs had to play large chunks of OoT for him. They should have planned to make three episodes out of the game, or they shouldn't have done it at all. Most Zelda games are just too long and too easy to make good television. I don't have a problem with people liking the episodes, but I would recommend dozens of others over them.

So how many different groups are translating the show?

SA is the most prolific. Last Continue GCCX has done a few episodes, most notably Magical Quest and Super Metroid. TV-Nihon made terrible subs for the first two seasons, plus both Ultraman-related episodes, and VR-GCCX is the newest group, from this thread itself.

There are:

-SAGCCX, they translated majority of the episodes, you can tell their work by the yellow subtitles. Currently on hiatus due to main translator's work.

-LCGCCX, group that focuses on both Season 17 and Nintendo Channel episodes. As far as I know they are also on hiatus due to their only translator being busy on real-life work.

-Team VR-GCCX, a /vr/ community effort that wants to bring DVD specials to masses. Currently, their second release is on public proof-reading period.

There are also groups that aren't translating the show anymore like:

-Clover, a big fansubbing group who released a few episodes some time ago. They have also collaborated with SAGCCX on Fatal Fury Special, Street Fighter II and Punch-Out episodes. They moved on the bigger projects.

-TV-Nihon,they are rather infamous fansubbing group due to their horrible translations. At first, they only translated Ultraman and Ultra Seven episodes as a joke. Seeing the positive response, they also did the first two seasons. Their GCCX-related output slowed down very fast, think one episode a year. It got so bad, that the goons from SA decided to translate the show themselves. As for TV-Nihon, it's unlikely they will translate another episode ever again.
