PC + Fixed and Enhanced Edition patch. It has everything that the CD version does and...
>three difficulty modes
>saving/loading
>improved graphics
>FMV cutscenes (from Tides of Time)
>French, German, and Spanish translations
>toggle between Genesis and CD soundtrack
>lossless audio quality
The only issue with the PC version is the lack of parallax scrolling effects. If you don't use the fan patch, then there are also some sound effects missing.

PC version has seams too. OP is a faggot and cherrypicked. Not to say the PC version doesn't look a little better overall.

Pic related; an effect not in the PC version.
Also, this is purely a matter of taste but the whole game has a bit of an uncanny 'remaster' feel to it. It doesn't look 100% natural with its higher resolution assets, and it doesn't have evenly sized pixels for all assets. Also in pic, the seams and example of mixed res assets that look kinda weird in concert. The Megadrive versions are the most cohesive, but whether that's worth the dithering and lower res assets to you is your call.

I never beat it. One way or another the final boss fucked me over with its weird ass patterns and hitboxes and had to do the entire level again and again.
I gave up. It didn't feel like I was gitting gud, it just felt like I was going through a torture chamber only to depend on luck at the end to see if I could beat it or start over.

i used save states, usually just 1 per level, but even then it was still brutal. having no checkpoints sucks, so when you get to that one part thats pure luck, fuck you.

>I gave up. It didn't feel like I was gitting gud, it just felt like I was going through a torture chamber only to depend on luck at the end to see if I could beat it or start over.
I felt the same way with time lord, burai fighter and kid icarus.

Yes, the final boss. and the final level. fuck them both. I used save states all through the last level. fuck the game designers. Those aliens will kill you within seconds, and ecco turns so slow youre fucked if they get close.

And the last boss, firstly making you do the last level again, secondly, spawning a alien right at the entrance you FALL INTO and lose all your health if you dont sonar the right direction instantly.

I figured out a pattern to beat the eyes, but then the blobs being shot from the sides fucked me, then the aliens spawning fucked me. then, when you dash against it, it doesnt bounce you back, so you gotta GTFO or itll drain your health too.

Fan patch

It's the definitive version bro

>> No.8949290

Playing the game it seemed like the only way the devs knew how to build the base mechanics into a challenge was just to make you endure something annoying and awkward like nudging stones to avoid being sucked in by the tide or having enemies respawn instantly the second the last pixel of their spawnpoint is offscreen. It's unfortunate because using your echo to map out environments and taking calculated risks going down paths with unknown resource supplies was a decent enough formula without the bullshit.

Fair, tracks can be changed, as you said.
>ripples
No, it doesn't, you dumbfuck. The background is static as ever during sonar messages even in your patched and fixed version. It's a line by line raster effect that's easily done on Genesis hardware but not on the 2D engine they cobbled together for PC and NO ONE will patch it in.

i feel like the devs had good ideas, but got too good at the game while implementing them and missed some flaws. With just a little tweaking, the game would be really great
