There is no best pinball machine. It's a subjective art form. Addams Family has a lot of flaws that were overlooked at the time that are somewhat more glaring today.
The standard flowchart for the game is pretty boring. It's just chair ramp repeat. With the occasional multiball thrown in maybe. Because of this, it's not a good tournament game.
Since The Power goes off when you trap up and wait for 5 seconds or so, the best strategy to not have to deal with the magnets leads to boring play.
Many aspects of the game never come into play if you're just playing to maximize your score or get to the wizard mode.
The modes range from simple to very simple. The wizard mode is just a medley of the modes.

That one does a have a scoop. It's funny that you said that though, because it's a Keith Elwin game. And Keith Elwin said he doesn't like scoops and doesn't want to put them in his games. But then he put one on Godzilla and said he couldn't figure out a way around doing so.

But almost all non-Keith Elwin Stern pinball machines do have scoops. But most Keith Elwin ones don't. But Godzilla does. It's above the pop bumper, on the lower right side of the playfield.

Pinball FX3 is a better pinball sim and there's no censorship in the PC version. I'd opt to play the classic tables on that, and only go to Pinball Arcade for stuff it doesn't have.

It's overrated, but damn is it fun and memorable.

Fuck dealing with their autistic forums. The Visual Pinball X tables look pretty good but older versions will be shittier and aren't worth dealing with unless you're desperate to find a missing game. You also need to get PinMame and direct it to your rom set. The roms you need are included in any full mame roms set.

The Pinball Arcade is pretty good and though I own every table even the ones not on sale anymore I do get attached to some and learn and play them every day to get better. Pinballs are dead where I live. It's not like I can just go to some arcade and play them like you still can do in richer countries. I used to play Medieval Madness, Theater of Magic, Starship Troopers and No Good Gophers, all brand new growing up, that place is still open but no one took great care to maintain the machines so they just died and most likely were thrown away into the trash. The video games are much easier to take care of and attract more people so that's all they have now, though even those are slowly being replaced by chink games as they die.
