What are some /vr/ characters that seem inspired by DC's classic version of Harley Quinn, or are from a similar archetype?? What I mean by this, is a character that has the following 3 characteristics:

>The character is female
>The character is a Harlequin, or has a design that seems to be inspired by the concept of the Harlequins or is somewhat reminiscent of them, which may can also be translated in other aspects of the character, such as having somewhat crazy/wacky powers or personality, having elements or a certain resemblance to some kind of clown, etc, but in any case the character has as a central design idea that she is a kind of Harlequin.
>At some point in the story or on this character's life, she acted as the sidekick of a character who fulfilled a role as a villain in the story, or at least fulfilled a role similar or equivalent to a villain for the protagonist of the story.

The only character that I could think of that fulfills all these characteristics and therefore has an character archetype similar to Harley Quinn, is Harle from Chrono Cross, who putting aside all her weird ass plot that she was the seventh dragon or something like that, she acted as the main henchman for Lynx at the beginning of the story, being both a duo, therefore H𝓪rle was Lynx's Harley Quinn.

So I'm really curious what other examples of characters like this there are, because this is an archetype that I like a lot. I don't think NiGHTS counts because even though I haven't played it yet, as far as I know NiGHTS wasn't a villain's assistant or anything like that. (Although you can still just use this Thread to just post Retro Harlequin girls why not)

Harle doesn't seem all that inspired by Harley Quinn. They have the same harlequin theme but that'd be like saying Batman is inspired by Dracula. Their personalities and role in the story are wildly different. Squaresoft had plenty of straight up knockoffs though in their history. Kefka has a lot of Joker's mannerisms and The Emperor is just David Bowie from Labyrinth.

>> No.8942754

They're really not related, just references to the same thing. Any attempt at a cute female harlequin is going to strike the same resemblance - Harley Quinn's original costume design is just a pretty much by the book harlequin costume except with an eye mask, so other basic costumes of the same thing resemble her.

Kind of like how anyone dressing up as a rhino is probably going to resemble The Rhino, because that's his entire costume with almost no twists to it, it's a rhino costume to look like a rhino and nothing else.

We all know Dragon Quest did.

i wish clown girls were an actual race of people:
>their entire skin is white
>the clown nose is natural
>their nipples and pussy lips have alternate colors, sometimes the same as the lips
>their skin probably taste funny
>imagine the taste of their breast milk
>grabbing their breasts/ass causes an honk noise

I never seek to claim that Harle is directly inspired by Harley Quinn or that they both have the same personality or something, I know that both are very different characters, that I remember in Batman TAS Harley Quinn didn't speak French and had a French accent all the time while she speak, or that she fell in love with Batman because he ignored her and had his eyes fixed on another girl who disappeared for most of story, also Harley Quinn wasn't a moon spirit created by a dinosaur biological supercomputer something that was sent back in time in a time crash, yes I know they are incredibly different characters Lmao.

I just talked about Harley Quinn because honestly..., I couldn't think of other words or examples to describe well what I'm looking for lol, that people could understood the idea I meant.

Which in short is simply:
>Character is a Harlequin girl, the character was/is also the assistant/sidekick of a villain, the end.

So I wanted to know what other characters there are that fall into that archetype besides Harle, but I looks like /vr/ doesn't know much about retro games again.

That's a pretty narrow scope. I literally can't think of a single example besides Harle and Harley Quinn. You could maaaaybe make an argument for Marx from Kirby's Super Star? Kind of jamming it in sideways though.

There's an extremely weird secret character in Vampire Savior called Marionette that has a vague jester theme. It's not clear if she's a villain but her powers are quite creepy. She takes control of the last character you defeated for use in the next fight.

Was looking for this. While I'm not sure about the original Japanese, the voice performance of the English version and her "Mistah D(ay)"s was definitely inspired by Harley.
