I am playing A Link to the Past for the first time.
I just wanted to tell someone that, maybe we can talk about Zelda games.
It's the first 2D Zelda I'm playing. I've barely started the game, but it seems like it might be pretty open.
Any tips for the combat?

>> No.8921039

It's actually linear as shit. The levels you have to go next are displayed on the map.

The numbers on the Dark World Map aren't actually a strict level order but a difficulty level, similar to Zelda 1's "Level" number in the dungeons Once you have the hammer, your options open. I personally do Misery Mire before Palace of Ice to make the latter easier on the puzzle side of things.

As for combat OP, bow and sword are your friends, Spin Attack does double damage.

I always liked charging my attack and playing bumper blades with the knights.

yes, but half the fun is exploring everything on the map that isn't in a dungeon

ALttP sort of works like oldschool Ys games with bump combat. You always have to hit your enemies slightly 'from the side'

Don't try to chase enemies around. Predict their position based on their movement and wait for them there to slash. Boomerang freezes most enemies and so it'll be your standard sidearm in combat. Arrows are extremely powerful but can be difficult to aim. Tools are incorporated into combat, so experiment when you encounter an issue.

Fucking this.

One of the dungeons has a bullshit method of entry, and I don't think it's hinted at anywhere.

If you get "cursed" read the text verrrrry carefully.

Getting the heart piece in the digging game is completely RNG.

Just go in there swingin', man, it's a game after all.

i like how LttP has two or more optional dungeon items hidden in the overworld outside of a corresponding dungeon, it feels rewarding to happen upon all that stuff. it's stuff like that that really hammers in why BotW is so weak sauce compared to earlier entries.

That's just the recommended order. There are at least 66 different orders you can do the Dark World in.

Finally, a likeminded individual.
Hello, how are you today?

>Differences
>The corrupt location data bug which led to Chris Houlihan's Room was patched, and the room can only be accessed through glitching or using cheating devices. The floor is no longer blue except directly under the rupees, and the Telepathic Tile was removed along with any mention of Chris Houlihan's name.
>A third Lumberjack by the name of Q. Bumpkin makes an appearance:
>To unlock Q. Bumpkin's Riddle Quest, Link must first obtain 10 Medals of Courage in Four Swords. Link must then talk to Q. Bumpkin to start the quest, who will give Link a basket (which replaces the "?" in the item screen) and tell him the first riddle.
>Link will be rewarded with set of three Wooden Carvings, and a secret technique called the Hurricane Spin after completing this quest.
>A new dungeon called Palace of the Four Sword was added in the east side of Pyramid of Power, with four Dark Links as the final bosses.
>To unlock this dungeon, the player must beat Ganon in A Link to the Past and Vaati at least once in Four Swords.
>After defeating the final bosses in this dungeon, a different ending plays; showing the Dark World dungeons, bosses and number of times the player used each item.
>New enemies, Like Likes can be found near the Shield Shop in the Dark World.
>Witch's Assistant in Magic Shop is replaced with Maple.
>Good Bee name was changed into Golden Bee.
>Sparkling stones and skulls can be found in the overworld. Hitting sparkling stones will create rupees, while hitting sparkling skulls will create lit bombs.
>Link was given the voice of Young Link from Ocarina of Time.
>The output resolution was changed to match the screen resolution of the Game Boy Advance, reducing the viewable area.
>The buttons were remapped to accommodate the Game Boy Advance's lower number of buttons compared to the SNES.

I mean BS The Legend of Zelda. I could have just flash carted it, but some of the more special ROMS, I guess I'm a sucker for repros of those. Especially ROMS that can easily be played using a flash cart, Albeit rare.
