why didnt they make the boxes from nintendium

>> No.8919968

The cartridges are hard plastic to begin with, and don't need any covering. They knew people would throw the boxes away, which they mostly did.

>> No.8919985

you are supposed to throw it in the trash & lose the manual

thrash the cart etc
live, life isn't about preserving everything
enjoy them and move onto the next new adventure to enjoy that

God I'm glad I have no desire to collect cardboard game boxes.
I can understand the mindset of wanting to have things complete, but even when kept out of light and handled infrequently, Nintendo cardboard boxes just seem to disintegrate without any stimuli.

The only Nintendo system I grew up with that used cardboard boxes was the Game Boy, and all my boxes are fine.
The fuck are you people doing to them to get them in that state?

>> No.8920416

>>8920395
Not them but when I was a kid I had a literally autistic friend (had a teacher's aid etc.) who would just throw his games in the closet with his wrestling figures and other shit without the box half the time. This included Sega CD/PSX games. He ended up letting me borrow Snatcher once and never asked for it back.

The design life is from 20 to 100 years, depending on the quality of the discs, the quality of the writing drive, and storage conditions. However, testing has demonstrated such degradation of some discs in as little as 18 months under normal storage conditions. This failure is known as disc rot, for which there are several, mostly environmental, reasons
