OK; personally I think the remasters of Wild Guns, Ninja Warriors and Pocky & Rocky are all pretty amazing. They are respectful to the original games whilst improving and adding to them. Giving people who missed out a second chance to experience these underrated jewels.

So /VR/, what is your dream game to get this kind of treatment?

Personally mine is pic related. I've only truly started playing it for the first time a week ago and holy crap is it a masterpiece. I didn't know that Sonic and Contra would work so well together. It also feels like they were trying to outdo Treasure with the amount of bosses and varying gameplay.

I think a modern version could truly be something special (even though Konami would never let that happen)

Nothing really, I want people to play the games as I know and love them as nice as the new Pocky & Rocky is it's not the same game, period.

I don't think GH would benefit from anything but a sequel.

I really don't understand this sentiment. There's no "chance" to miss out on when they can just go play the originals at any time, for free no less. I used to look forward to remasters but now I just ignore them.

A different opinion is fine, but when you're opinion is "Not interested" it's worthless.

It would be like going into every store you passed on the way home and telling every cashier "Nothing in this store interests me".

It's a waste of your time and mine.

Not necessarily a 'dream game' but I think one title that could use a remaster is the NES version of Strider. Yes, I'm aware of Strider 2014, and it's good. But I pick this title because a remaster would be an opportunity to actually release the completed game as it was intended. This game was scrapped for the Famicom, but ended up being released for the NES, and those who have played it can attest to it being playable, but buggy and unpolished. My dream remaster would include fixed item and walljumping. Austrailia would be redone so that it isn't just a retread of Africa, and LA could be extended to include more than just a redone bossfight. Speaking of bosses, I'd add more than just the 4 or so that are recycled throughout the game, but I'd keep the boss gauntlet at the end of the game. Lastly, as a final touch, I'd include the companion Manga that was made alongside the game as a completion bonus.

tl;dr Strider on NES is buggy and unfinished, and could actually use a remake.

M2 would've done a way better job with Rocket Knight than Climax.

Part of the appeal of Rocket Knight Adventures and SNES Sparkster was it was a mindless platform. Genesis Sparkster did have shit you could collect but as an option. Adding a layer of tedium was fucking horseshit and it's best to pretend Climax's Rocket Knight didn't exist like Appaloosa's Contra games.

Strictly for coomer reasons but Titanic Mystery is one of the few cases where graphics do make or break a game's experience. A remake that respects the artstyle of the original with AT LEAST Neo-Geo sized 2D character graphics if not Capcom Play System 3 quality would be neat.

What? Just play an emulator or flash cart. My Mega Drive cost less than $50 and you can get them cheaper than that.

genesis are NOT $50 anymore and especially not below $50.

desu though im not sure what i want remade in the same style. Wild Guns Reloaded is a straight improvment and amazing in everyway, but I can only appreciate it after the fact. Hard to see "wow, i never knew i needed this!" before it happens.

He's not contrarian, he's right. First of all the constant cycle of remakes is just terrible for modern games industry, second of all the old games are there for those who want them.

I think it's shows how sad the remake was that a person calling for a new modern game in the series, doesn't even know it got one like 15 years ago.
It's fair though, it was unremarkable.

I would like to see Illusion of Gaia to come back. Actraiser got it, it seems okay (still need to replay it). I would want them to find the original creators though, as he had a spark for a certain feel no one else did. Sadly, he's basically MIA.

Actually I was a aware. But firstly, it wasn't a remake. It was a sequel and it was on Xbox Live. I remember watching the very day that HVGN did a review of it and seeing it sucked ass. I also downloaded the free trial (that you used to be able to do on Xbox live) and yes, it sucked ass. The two sequels on SNES and GEN I haven't played. But from what I have seen, they also seem to SUCK ASS.

However, RKA doesn't suck it. It's a short but satisfying action masterpiece in the same vein as other Konami classics like Castlevania Bloodlines and Treasures Alien Soldier.

I would love to see what they did with Wild Guns Reloaded; taking the same game but increasing the resolution, adding a few extra levels and generally celebrating it.

I'm not sure "improving" is the right term. Take Wild Guns for instance, it plays completely differently; in the original there is a smaller FOV, less enemies, but enemies are more of a threat; while in the remaster you have a higher FOV, more enemies at once, but each individual enemy is less of a threat. So the original requires quicker reflexes but the remaster requires more planning ahead. It's not really an "improvement", it's just different.

>> No.8910134

I think Konami should buy SOTN Hacked, and give the guy what ever he needs to finish it, because it looks like exactly what I would want out of a remake/iterative upgrade.
