I haven't played it yet, but it's hard to tell. A lot of the "really good" Saturn games were just kind of mediocre to me. There's a few I enjoyed, though.

It is actually great. I would go so far as to call it the best Saturn game. Some really funny anti-woke humor peppered through as well.

I played it after playing Kichikuou Rance so Dragon Force felt shallow by comparison, but it's a decent game
Also once I realized that literally nothing matters but gathering the kings and fighting the last boss, the illusion of the game was kind of shattered for me

It is simplistic, but I think it is pretty enjoyable. It was addictive fun to me, and I am glad I played though it a few times. It is made by Sega, and thus not for everyone.
