English is not easy as fuck to pick up. You only think that because it's the first one you learned.

English and Russian are the two hardest to learn languages if you started with alpha and are staying within alpha. Alpha to moonrunes or moonrunes to alpha is irritating as fuck, sure, but English has no structure whatsoever and over half the language is loan words.

That said... I have a lot of Ikaruga stuff too... again, Yasushi Suzuki, because aside from frantic-zany Treasure shooting action they always bring, he was the best thing to ever cross their art department.

Also, I have had this running idea for a while, that all main treasure games in fact take place in the same universe. Gunstar, S&P, Silvergun, Bangai O, Guardian Heroes and a few of the side games like Mischief Makers/Alien Soldier. A lot of reoccurring elements and back referencing in the games. Interesting to think about, if not for anything else.

It's not hard to learn enough Japanese to play games. I played through most of the early FFs in Japanese with a dictionary on hand after reading a bit about Japanese grammar. With the exception of decoding old-man-speak and weird regionalisms, it certainly doesn't take "a ton of dedication".

>> No.889114

Man, I used to worship Treasure as gods. Especially with their "no sequels" philosophy at the time, and knowing that most of them also worked on many of the great Konami classics. Hard to pick just one game, but I'm pleased to see Dynamite Heady getting some love; I always felt that game was generally underrated. I never did open the vault, though.

>Man, I used to worship Treasure as gods

You're not alone. In fact, I remain perfectly convinced that their output from Gunstar to Ikaruga makes them the best studio ever. Ok, maybe that definition is trite but, holy fuck did they show an almost perfect dominance over the consoles they were working on... I mean who else has their titles in contention for best game on a console on 3 consecutive consoles over what, 8 years? TL;DR ALL HAIL TREASURE.

Guardian Heroes can get my vote.

I'm surprised, tho, so little love for Yu Yu Yakusho. I couldn't give less of a toss about the anime/manga, but the game is basically Guardian's versus on the Mega Drive.
