Sup lads, time to talk about the fun machine again.
Ordered a translucent controller not so long ago and will arrive this wednesday so I'm excited to play more 64 goodness again, I want to go back to Wave Race 64.
Have you played any N64 games recently?

>> No.8872085

Nice, party time!! I'm running through Ocarina and Wrestlemania 2000 currently. I would love a copy of wave race. I'm sure its insanely priced now though. What else are you going to play?

I don't think Wave Race 64 is that pricey even if its 1st party, but again everything is so expensive these days.

I was thinking on some Star Wars games due to that may the 4th thing, always had a soft-spot for SotE and Episode 1: Racer

>> No.8872370

So many great Star Wars games on the 64 (even if there were only 4). Rogue squadron, shadows of the empire (recently tried the pc version and it’s garbage in comparison). Battle for Naboo... I think the pod racing one is the only one I haven’t tried. Real shame we never got official rogue squadron 2 on the 64.

Hey I know next to nothing about n64 controllers and my old man picked one up the other day and I had him send me a few pictures. He said all the buttons work fine but I have absolutely no idea how to identify a fake n64 controller.
Could anyone tell me whether or not this thing is legit?

usually fake controllers dont have the Nintendo copyright stuff and their sticks are really bad (either low quality imitations of the original or they use modern-style analogs with fucked up range zones).

Could always get one of these dudes if you have enough cartridges to justify the space they take up.
I've seen someone post some plastic repro cases on here that looked pretty nice. If my games weren't in the original boxes I'd probably be storing them in plastic tubs or shoeboxes or something.

I have. I've popped in Puyo Puyo Sun 64 and Pilotwings 64 a few times in the last month. I never seem to be able to get my fill of Puyo regardless of which version I play, and Pilotwings is worth playing for the soundtrack alone. Love my N64.
I think I'm due for a replay of Ocarina of Time at some point this year. It's been about ten years since I last played it. I still haven't played Majora's Mask either, so if I'm still hungry for Zelda after I replay OoT I might finally play Majora.

Anyone know how to fix n64 controllers being a little bit creaky after reassembling them after cleaning? Everything works fine, but a couple seem a bit creaky when I put pressure on the arms.

Am I slightly not aligning something when putting the shell together?

And just to clarify the joy stick is fine, its the shell that creaks if you put pressure on it.. It’s not a huge deal and on inspection everything with the controller is fine, but just not sure if I am messing up with the reassembly process.

>> No.8874734

>>8874291
When you reassembled it, did you make sure to follow the original threads or did you just screw it back together? If you're not careful you'll cut the original threads and lose holding torque that way. Finding the original threads is easy, turn the screw counterclockwise lightly until you hear a click to find the originals, otherwise you cut new ones.

I've only had an n64 for about 10 years now and due to work life and otherwise I've only really just now begun to play it. I've been playing Pokemon Stadium 2 (real cart) on and off in conjunction with my Crystal version. Lots of fun. Also gave Pilotwings a try the other day and holy fuck that game is comfy. Playing it via flash cart however and my reset button is stuck, so I can't save my flash cart games currently. I know it's an easy fix, just need to get the security bit to open up the system. Truly I was wanting a new 64 anyway though so I'll probably do that first kek. I have a plain grey, looking for ice blue.

>Mario Kart 64
>Shadows of the Empire
>Starfox 64

>Ocarina of Time
>Mischief Makers
>Blast Corps
>Star Wars Episode I Racer
>Super Smash Bros.
>Jet Force Gemini
>Pokemon Snap
>Mario Golf
>Majora's Mask
I think this might be it for my original N64 collection from back in the day.
I sold most of it, then re-started buying them CIB in the mid 2000s, now I have most of those back and much more.
Ironically I don't have SM64 and OOT (though OOT I have for GC on the MQ disc, and OOT3D), my only original childhood game I still have, CIB and all, is MM.
