I wish the Dreamcast had as much space as the Saturn did under the lid. It would make it more feasible to install an ODE that doesn't require the replacement of the disc drive.

my Saturn has a daughterboard that works in between the mainboard and the CD drive. Even if I wanted to keep the drive, I'd have to remove the daughterboard anyway. Anyway, I got the MODE and I still enjoy it for what it is.

I want to take my childhood Saturn and kit it out (I put a Fenrir in a Japanese Saturn with a busted disc drive but my personal Saturn is still stock).

Get a Satiator and a Phantom modchip as well as maybe the ReSaturn PSU. If I'm really daring I'd maybe also consider doing the FRAM mod.

Part of the appeal of ODE's is that you can keep your discs stored away safely once you've ripped a copy of it and don't risk getting them scratched or broken.

Or just sell your collection, prices are fucking retarded these days you could probably make a lot of money.
