This seriously had the most douchebaggy "We hate you kid, but we already got your parents' money so nyah" method of artificially padding out the game length I've ever seen. The kickass soundtrack doesn't justify this bullshit.

>> No.8864029

"Padding out the length" is the new trendy way for young bad players to say "I'm really getting filtered but I gotta blame it on the game", aka the new "artificial difficulty". The worst thing is you have zero imagination about it, just repeat the same trendy phrases you heard.

ok zoomer, keep using your meme word you read on discord.
pic you posted is an example of a thing your tidepod brains don't understand. it's a hard area that is meant to be the final big challenge. it's solved by trial and error, and replaying things over and over. I know this usually makes people like you seethe and screech "HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT??!!". babbies like you usually shit themselves when they're (gasp) forced to REPLAY a segment of the game. then you post angry messages like "omg the game is just 30 minutes long, how did they get away with it??".
now try to understand this, you chipotle-eating asexual faggot: you're supposed to FIGURE THIS PART OUT YOURSELF. maybe write down the correct order of the doors. because that's how you have fun in this part—figure things out and overcome challenges to feel rewarded. unless you're a little bitch who needs a game that you must be able to 100% on first try or else it's "artificial difficulty" to you.

Back in my day we called it "grinding" and "backtracking" and it was shit then and it's shit now.

It's not that bad, but I can see no one besides OP has even played Renegade. The rest of the game is a straightforward beatemup and the last level throws a silly maze at the player to navigate through. It was most definitely done to pad out the game because it's literally like 10 minutes otherwise.

are you OP? because you also use words you don't understand.
"backtracking" is a redundant journey to a different location that you need just to progress.
"grinding" is a redundant killing of enemies just to progress.
what you have in Renegade is simply a tough puzzle. yeah, it's very unforgiving and "fuck you" kind. however, it's perfectly solvable, unless you cry like a little bitch every time you lose.
repeating same area to get better at it is essential to many old games. only zoomies like you are butthurt by it, you fags need to be able to 100% the game on 1 life and get 10 participation trophies for it, or else you will cry and call it "artificial difficulty".

I like trial and error. Memorising things and doing it well after the fact is satisfying. What are you going to do? Send the game design police to get me?

Any time I backtracked was just due to getting lost, missing something whether it was a direction/info or item etc etc. Basically it was my own fault. It's time to accept SOME responsibility op.

This game expected you to abuse your abilities to their fullest extent, as your opponents would do the same to you. I believe the designer of this game wanted to simulate how an actual street fight would go down, where people won't just stand around and watch.

Maze games added dead ends because they NEEDED to adding padding due to the small paper space they had available.

This is why I just go through walls to overcome this outdated bad game design.

My favorite parts of my favorite JRPG series, Phantasy Star, is trying to find and fight my way through the dungeons, which are literally just mazes
