Did you manage to reverse-engineer Lakers' image format?
I had a look at it a few months back, tinkering with the files by changing bits here and there, and discovered it stored the 4 planes sequentialy, in 8 pixels wide columns. Then I got stuck on some of the compression that looks like some more complicated RLE or maybe a variant of LZSS.

The Windows ports use regular BMPs by the way.

Not the anon who posted this title screen, but I'm the one working on it (I also did the previous menu patches last year). Everything is translated/inserted/debugged up to chapter 5. After that it will need some editing and re-phrasing before it's released.

The assets from Lakers 1 & 2 can be extracted and converted to png using the SuperSakura engine. I don't have the technical details, it's the SuperSakura author who made all the technical work to allow me to re-insert edited graphics in the game.
But yeah, the format is the same for Lakers 2, and that opens the door for a future translation project on this one too.

I see, thanks for the info and I looked at SuperSakura's code on gitlab. I had only looked at L3 files, wrongly thinking all three games used the same format, yet the basic structure is the same.
From his info on Lakers' OZM:
>The image is RLE-compressed. While reading non-zero bytes, those are literals: output them as rows in the current 8px bitplane column. When 00 is encountered, it is a special multi-byte command. After the command's bytes, resume reading literals until the next non-zero byte.
In Lakers 3, there are more commands besides classic RLE, like copying n previously output bytes or copying from the previous column.

I suppose you already have your hands full with the first two games for now, so keep up the good work.

Thanks! I think the Lakers 1 patch will be released around June. Don't hold your breath for Lakers 2, though. I most likely won't be able to begin work on it until october/november (plus I also have Dragon Knight III going)
I don't know if I'll ever do Lakers 3. The script is HUGE, testing it would be very difficult considering all the simultaneous events that can occur, and there's quite a bit of hardcoded stuff. It would definitely require more manpower.
