I just got through sh1 and sh3 for the first time over the past month and i thought they were great. Can anyone rec me some games that have great atmosphere? They dont even have to be horror, i just want something i can soak in.

Resident Evil Dead Aim low budget embarrassing voice acting and not that pretty visually but environments, audio and the zombie dismemberment are amazing
Parasite Eve 2 PEAK SQUARE ENIX JRPG atmosphere but with actual gameplay

The first Nightmare Creatures. Don't bother with #2.

Shadow Tower and the King's field games. Rule of Rose although good luck getting a copy, but it's work getting your PS2 modded for it.

PSX Doom is really neat and has the thickest atmosphere of any doom ever.

Way of the Samurai 1 has a really comfy atmosphere, but it's lacking a save system and is meant to be played like a 90 minute Samurai film every time you boot it up. Deus Ex for the PS2 isn't a terrible port, and the autoaim function actually makes the gameplay feel better than normal.

Okami, Koudelka, Kuon, Clock Tower (2), Galerians 1/2, Legacy of Kain series, Fatal Frame series, Rule of Rose, Disaster Report 1/2, Onimusha series (especially the first one).

You might like SMT Nocturne, quite a moody game. Bit of a time-sink though like most jRPGs so be advised.

It's not cheap if you're opposed to emulating. The same goes for Rule of Rose, but it's a worse game and costs more.

OP should wait to play Parasite Eve until around Christmas though. It ALSO has a nice Christmas atmosphere due to taking place during it

I've played it every Christmas week for like 7 years or so. I'm fully maxed out from my 2nd run when I cleaned the Chrysler building so all my subsequent playthroughs are to relaxingly soak up the atmosphere.
