What hardware mods do you consider acceptable? Does refurbishment count as a mod?
Picrel is a refurb I just did to replace the dying and barely-visible EL panel on a Gameboy Light with a new one I bought off Aliexpress and cut down.

I believe that if you own the item it's really just up to you how the console is optimized. Personally i keep my things as OEM as possible unless something dire needs to done or i want to put a backlight on it for excessive use.

I mostly agree, backlights mods are fine but I think adding backlit LCDs is redit shit-tier since it ruins the colour palette and contrast the games were originally designed with. It falls into the same uncanny valley as emulation. People can do whatever they want with their own hardware but it does burn me up to see coomlectors hoarding everything just to gut it and replace all the parts with cheap Chinese aftermarket parts.

I changed my nomad with a new screen. Can’t change the brightness now but it gets better battery life by a mile so worthwhile mod. Same goes for the game gear and gameboy color but I sent those out to be modified before I was comfortable with doing that stuff myself. I’ve managed to revive a bunch of game gears myself since and now attacking some future upgrade projects like Dreamcast shell replacement and gdemu, plus replace caps on a couple Xbox’s.

I have a gba sp the original model and I was gonna swap its screen out too but It’s a pure gba sp I’m the only owner ever and the shell will need to be scraped a bit for it to fit apparently so I’ve been putting it off, should I get a new shell to replace it too or seek a broken screen SP?

I need vr’s help. I just picked up a Nintendo DS, and the hinge is fucked. I want to replace the shell with a transparent one (preferably pink, because the carrying case and game cases are all pink). But I cannot find any, only boring old flat colors. Anyone with better google fun than me?

I modded your mom last night.

Oh boy do I have some bad news for you. Not only are the only available shells the plain colors you described, but they also are of terrible quality and you have to go as far as shorten screws or else they cause bumps to appear on the opposite side. Also I think only Black, White, Silver, and Red are not painted while Blue, Turqoise and Pink are.

genuinely you’re better off just buying another phat DS with a dead screen or something to Frankenstein them together. Check out J4U they usually have junk systems for 2 or 3 bucks

The Gameboy I need to buy?

How much should a Gameboy Color cost?

I wouldn't spend more than 20 or 30 bucks. With how common the hardware is and its age, it shouldn't continue being sold for near MSRP.

Nigger nobody sells it at that price these days. Fucking autistic retard.

But nearly all GBC cost above 60+ euros here!

>> No.8851271

And that's why I hate resellers. These greedy fucks are expecting people to pay the console's original MSRP for a loose console. No box, no manuals, and used. I could understand if it was something like a Micro that nobody bought, but the GBC sold a shitload. They aren't in short supply.

Any mods are fine as long as you're aware they're not "authentic", for whatever that's worth.

That said, I still get annoyed by overly flashy stuff like chrome-plated components and LEDs. And if you put them on display instead of actually using them, you can fuck off.

>should I get a new shell to replace it
Yeah, just get a new shell. They're like $15 and decent enough by this point. Just stay away from transparent options, they're prone to cracking.

His emo gf died of OD, his hairline is non-existent, his parents had hope for him, but now even that died. His last good memory was a falloutboy concert, and watching classic game room. His dick has been out of commission for over a decade, and has a thick layer of dust on it. For him the past is the only safe place, the present is hell.

You are misdirecting your anger. The reason resellers are able to sell at these outrageous prices now is because of hipsters. Hipsters are who you should hate. Go to /r/gameboy and have a look at true cancer.
