Is that why it's being posted on every board on this site? I had no idea this existed until yesterday when I saw 5 threads randomly for no reason but not explaining why.

I really have mixed feelings on the Darkstalkers OVA. As an anime on its own, it's pretty bad. The ending is extremely anticlimactic, and too much time is spent on stuff like Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling's backstory and Donovan's moping. But there is one specific thing that it does extremely well: And that's recreating visuals from the games. You get to see all sorts of moves and poses from the games recreated, and that's bound to make anyone who's played them smile. I am glad that Discotek's giving it a Blu-Ray release. But I can't really recommend it to anyone who isn't a big fan of the games.

Extremely. This would be the IDEAL time to cash in on nostalgia for both EJ game and the EJ show. That would mean using the same artstyle and the same cast.

To be honest, EJ worked better as a show, and many of the tweaks and changes to the setting and characters were improvements. EJ is no longer a Texan worm, and yells like Homer. Pepper Puppy is no longer a minor character, and instead is the main side-kick. Adding a redcurrant quote from Dune is just baffling, but it works. Princess Whatsherface is Princess Leia (many shows of this era copy Star Wars, as they writers grew up on it). Her being played straight in a world of idiots is fantastic.

Bowser himself was absolute ass in that game, too. It's no wonder it scared Nintendo away from full voice acting in Mario for ages. I liked Leslie Swan's Peach in 64, even though she was pretty subdued and ordinary sounding. The same voice actress was already directed into that shrill cadence in Kart 64, which I've never really liked, but it matches Martinet's Mario. I thought she sounded wonderful in Bowser's Inside Story when I replayed that around Christmas, so whoever that was is pretty good to keep around.

They were on my bookshelf for years and only recently went into storage when I started a family. I wonder what they sell for, not that I'm really interested.
