What do you think of the Capcom Power Stick Fighter?

This up there, my naive anon is the best oldschool stick there is. Period. Because the early models have a genuine LS-32 in it.

I usually don't. Mine are all packed away. Waiting for some youtuber to tell his npc that it's the greatest stick ever.

I thought the design was pretty cool. It has space to rest your palms in an ergonomic angled format. The buttons don't feel as good, but it also stands out with being compatible with the Famicom as well. I am looking for the white Mega Drive one, once I can save up enough to go back.

Scanline City absolutely will make a video about it. Although he'll also mod it which will completely defeat the point of talking about it historically.
This very thread could be the catalyst since I guarantee he lurks here.

The buttons are 24mm and have omron switches under them too. They're not contact pads like one might assume at first glance.

The Capcom one and Sega Arcade Power Stick 6B has nice clicky sticks when hitting the cardinal directions. Those two has a pretty decent stick but the buttons did not feel right. However, the NES Advantage is kinda mushy like an overgrown controller so it is just an approximation. They are still decent for what they were.

>> No.8799835

>>8796991
Never liked these sticks. Very cheap feeling and loud. I suppose if you mod one it would probably be better, but even then the body still kind of sucks. Best arcade stick for NES is probably the AS-2088-FC ASCII Stick, and for SNES, the HSJ-12 HORI Fighting Stick.

>> No.8799846

>>8799835
Modding one now would be a shame and rather pointless. They are better left stock as an example of what Capcom released as the closest thing they ever did to an official controller for Street Fighter II in the 90s.

Yes. The man has a few and has used them has no idea, while the silly little child who's never touched one is an expert. Welcome to the new and zoomed up /vr/

I was tempted to get arcade sticks for my retro consoles but I wasn't sure about the quality of these things. I ended up getting brook converters for the consoles I own and using my more modern fight stick I already have. Probably more expensive if you don't already own a fight stick but guaranteed quality.

>> No.8799905

Using a more modern arcade stick with some kind of converter is probably the way to go nowadays. It's hard to find sticks for older consoles that are both high quality and in good condition.

>> No.8799931

>>8799859
You may own a few but you still don't know anything about them. There's a difference.
You haven't even mentioned any of the "important bits" specifically yet.
If you knew anything about these sticks you'd know that the Capcom Power Stick Fighter (or Fighter Power Stick sometimes) had real arcade joysticks in them (Sanwa JLW or Seimitsu LS-40 depending on the model, sometimes a Capcom clone of a JLW) and the buttons were basically arcade quality omron switches as well even if they were 24mm. This was actually mentioned already in this thread but I guess you don't read before responding either.

I have more knowledge of controllers in my little finger than you have in your entire brain. Typing words you read on the internet doesn't show you know anything. It's called parroting and bird brain isn't a complement. Turns out you were just projecting your own ignorance all along.

>>8800157
>modern era
So like starting in 1980? Pretty sure that's the year I built my first. But it did cost me about 1.5x as much as a new 2600 controller. Worth every penny though.

>> No.8800371

All these old arcade pads suffer from shit tier practically toy level joysticks/buttons. Modern arcade/fight sticks are kino for anything that doesn't require an analog stick though.

The Sigma Super Pro Stick is the stick you'll see advertised in many issues of Gamest magazine in the 90s. It was compatible with consoles or the Sigma Raijin superguns. They used a Seimitsu LS-32 and PS-14-G buttons.

Regardless it still sucks as background visuals. I feel like the only reason they’re there is so that you have some pretty looping animations to mindlessly stare at when he goes full tard mode and talks for 20 minutes about absolute bullshit.

If the videos were good I’d say they’re too distracting but as is they’re the most interesting part
