What do you prefer? Do you have everything wired up or just what you're playing currently? Flash carts or originals? Rf or scart? What seating is most cozy? Let's discuss the perfect setup. Yes that's my setup, tell me why it's dogshit. Go!

If it's clean it's not being used and I've seen some filthy rooms I doubt it's that bad. Agree about knick knacks and posters, there's a point where it's too much and it looks hokey, think I passed it. Anime posters are the missus', so they're not going anywhere without a compromise. Preferably I'd only have the display case and nothing else, limited to official hardware and some figures. I'd love a proper retro cabinets and av system, they just don't have the room to support so many consoles. Got the couch today, it's an old couch I got off marketplace. Just the right amount of warn, you sink straight into it. I assume you're a sit on the floor type? If I had my way I'd cover the whole floor in arcade style carpet. Love this stuff.

I think my issue with the mister currently is that it doesn't entirely replace a multi console setup. You cant readily connect your real controllers without swapping out usb dongles and that issue is multiplied if you want more than 1 cobtroller. I want to see a modular board that lets you click on bays of 4 controller sockets and can be chained. Support for memory cards too. Imagine how cool a giant io board with all your controller inputs would look.

My place is a mess, the game room is also where we keep our wardrobe.
My gf feels the need to wear somthing different each day and has enough shit to do that for a month without doing laundry.

There's clothes all over the place plus a lot of paperwork and other shit since we use it as a storage area too.

I don't like exposing my shit in the livingroom and bedroom is also a no go.
We really need to start throwing shit away and make more room.

>Double sad because I had pvm, and no, not the 21 inch proletariat model. it was a beefy 24 inch. I sold it for 200 bucks because the big tube was such a better experience.

now I use a Sanyo Spectra 2000 -I love it. not as large as my big boy with PiP and soundboard- and not as crisp and clear as my PVM but it's a great little model, not that heavy, and has built in speakers that can really fill a room given the size. no complaints. I haven't really been couch gaming much lately but so far my current solution is to just shove whichever TV I'm currently not using out of the way. What it's like with the CRT shoved out of the way.

I'm really glad I got this Sony Bravia (I've been wanting an HDTV with S-video and Component to have as my "backup" for a while) but the previous owner has a pet bird that kept chewing up the edges of the mesh over the speakers and I'm not really sure how best to replace it. It was pretty fucking disgusting with bird feathers and bird dust on the inside too but thankfully there was no bird shit on or in it.

Also funnily enough even though I can't single lift the CRT, I find the HDTV way harder to move. It's still heavy as fuck because it has a metal chasis and weighted base and the bottom is rubberized so I have to lift it fully to move it every time. Compared to the CRT that shoves around real easy on its plastic bottom.

Yeah don't be mistaken the JVC isn't going anywhere until it dies. I prefer CRT for retro consoles but I do need an HDTV somewhere in my setup for my HDMI consoles, I still wanted something that has all the retro inputs for the sake of it though.

Never had any heat issues with consoles in the cabinets like that, they're fine on ventilation I think. The doors are a relatively recent addition but I make sure they're popped open when something's turned on.

How do you guys store your controllers?
I can build shit and I'm trying to think up the best solution.
Ideally I'd like to waste as little space as possible, so I was thinking about a shelving unit with thin pull out drawers, but I've also considered building a lift-top coffee table, where all the controllers could be stored.

My only issue is a few of the oddities I have, such as my Dreamcast twinsticks, which are big and bulky

ideally optimizing vertical + horizontal space especially because i have very little space in this tiny room of mine.

It was like that when we bought it. It's a midwest home built in '65, I think it was. Given the carpet here and the tile on the other half, the basement was finished some time in the early 70s at latest, by my guess.
I like the look of the paneling, but it sucks for functionality. It gets pretty cold down here since they didn't bother much with insulation with the paneling being so thin, and it's a little wavy in spots from unchecked humidity. I'd like to replace it with real plank wood paneling, I think.

I love how the two screens' contrast gives away what gamers prioritized over the years.

>Everyone had 17-24 inch tube TV's
>Games' input lag was less than 1ms at all times on a console
>Everyone now has 60-100 inch flat screen TV's
>Wireless controllers
>I'm picturing the input lag on that Switch would be something around 30ms alone, plus the TV could have anything from 20-100ms more, depending on model / resolution

I've played Smash Ultimate at a friends' house and it was literally unplayable for me. I've noticed the massive input lag as soon as the character select screen came up

Yes, I was a melee tourneyfag

>> No.8803776

>>8803757
I want to say that I heard they actually purposefully increased the input delay or startup and ending frames, maybe both, in that game, probably to account for online play in some twisted way. The lag is still there during gameplay even with a wired controller and on a <1ms delay monitor. I noticed this from the first time I played it too; it's not just you. My casual friends and I all noticed it immediately.
I was never a high-level Smash player so I still like Ultimate a lot (the roster and stage selection is great), but it's the only entry in the series that legitimately made me take a couple of days to get used to playing.

Also every modern fighter does that to a certain extent.
Street Fighter V adds something like 4-5ms input lag natively to the game, so that online play and offline play don't turn out to be completely different experiences
Nintendo has never really cared too much about online play though, and it shows.
Have you ever played Brawl online on the Wii? You could be playing your neighbour and get like 300ms delay lol
What I mean is the netcode on Ultimate probably sucks real bad

I've heard the N64 has an S-Video cable and I want to get 3 for my SNES, N64, and GC since it's the same multi-out connector on all 3 and should work if my thinking's right. The tv is great for VHS movies and playing ps2. Everyone always asks how the hell I got it in there. I have other consoles, tvs, and a/v equipment stored at my parents place.
I like the comfier rooms that do more than just show off video games and have a sony wega. I'm trying to get together stuff now to have a nice wood paneled game room in a house someday. Neon signs, car posters, stereo, console tv, all stainless and woodgrain equipment, and maybe a pool table if I make it.

I have a friend whose grandpa was an engineer by trade. He had thousands of blue prints for electrical and mechanical stuff in all kinds of buildings. All of them were copies of hand drawn work.
I took four bankers box worth of them when he was clearing out his old office building. The rest probably got recycled. Shame too cause they make for neat looking posters even if its a Kroger or a school or whatever.

Boy, I do not miss that. I grew up in a trailer park next to an airport with a mother who smoked. I'm surprised more of my stuff isn't destroyed.
Get an air purifier. I bought one late last year and, anecdotally, it seems to help quite a bit. I don't know how much it'll help with the whole airport situation, but it might be worth a try.

Some day, when I build new bookcases, I really want to put doors on them. Dusting books is pretty annoying. Consoles and games are easier in that regard, at least.

Nice setups everyone, gives me a lot of ideas on how to improve mine. I took a closer photo of my hardware setup seeing as it's not very clear. All consoles are hooked up ready to go, baskets have extra controllers and accessories. Everything that can run rgb runs through a manual scart switch and converts to component for the Trinitron. I also have a composite switch for all my lower quality sources. I run all of those into a shinybow splitter which also acts as an easy breakout box for all my inputs. The photo doesn't make it clear but the picture on the Trinitron is amazing, ever since I got it I've had no desire to run a pvm because it looks so sharp already. If I didn't move from a modern display down to a crt I wouldn't have bothered with rgb either. My biggest problem with the setup is how much empty space there is, shelves could easily fit double the consoles but of course ikea doesn't sell the removable inserts in Australia, just permanent glass ones. Ideally I'd have all my hardware on the left, remove the second shelf and pop a second crt sideways on the right and get into some arcade shmups. I also need to get a neo geo and turbo graphx.
