Super Butoden 2 will be 30 years old soon, and it's still one of the best DBZ video games.
It's one of the rare cases of a game with a very short development time that ends up hitting every spot right. It's still a beloved fan favorite after all these years.

Are you playing on real hardware?
I'll give you the controls are slow on default speed, but there's the turbo option.

Super butoden 3 is significantly faster and smoother, but unfortunately it has no story, and a smaller roster

>> No.8757552

>>8757471
Butoden 3 definitely is the best of the Butoden games purely in terms of gameplay. Though Butoden 2 is still very good, 3 added some improvements.
The roster is the same amount of characters, I think? If you count Future Trunks

Future Trunks was a cool secret character in this one. These old SNES DBZ games have SOVL.

Future Trunks was a secret character on Butoden 3.
Butoden 2's secret characters are Goku and Broly. Probably the only DBZ game ever to have Goku be a hidden character and not playable on the story mode (which makes sense by context as the game came out after Goku died while the manga was going, and the game is about Goku dying during the Cell Game)

not really super butouden 3 has a better gameplay and is perfect to play with friends.
hyper dimension has better graphics and gameplay but lazy people with low IQ don't understand how powers works on that game or even the life/ki system.

pretty based to see some love for Butoden 3. It really is the best Butoden game in pure gameplay and balance.
But it's not THAT much better than 2, it's an improvement, but Butoden 2 is still a lot of fun. It's not like Butoden 1 or Shin Butoden which have very clunkly gameplay, both 2 and 3 are great to play with friends.
The thing with Butoden 2 is what everyone always praises about it: the fabulous story mode, which is full of soul and one of the best story modes in any fighting game - maybe the best one, can't really think another fighting game with an engaging "adventure-style" story mode with multiple endings.
Also more stages, more music tracks.
But yeah Butoden 3 is often shunned down for not having story mode, but it's still a really good game to play in VS mode. It has few stages and music tracks but what is there is pretty good too.

hyper dimension has decent mechanics and graphics but it really didn't captuere that dbz giant ki blast sovl that the butouden series had.
imo in terms of overall presentation super butouden 2 really takes the cake. best music, best roster, best colors (3 was too bright), best arc, best story mode.
butouden 3 felt somewhat rushed in terms of content.

Yeah Hyper Dimension is more Street Fighter with a DBZ motif. It's great as its own thing but doesn't feel like a DBZ game to me.

when will we get a Butoden that mix all what's good of Butoden 2 and 3?
no Extreme Butoden doesn't count, it's a good game but not what i'm asking for.

an actual "Ultimate Butoden" and not the DS game either (can't you even believe DB Kai had a tie-in game at all?)

The DS and 3DS "Butoden" games weren't real Butoden games, sadly.
I also wish someone would make a romhack that mixes all the characters from 2 and 3.
>>8760335
I like it, it's a real Butoden game even if it's not called Super Butoden. Not as good as 2 or 3 in gameplay but makes up with the roster, and it's better than Butoden 1.

Probably, but also both Butoden 2 and 3 have a turbo speed option (you need to press L and R on the 2nd controller during the opening sequence).
Final Bout and UB22 are super sluggish though.

Final Bout is absolutely retarded shovelware but I'd be lying if I said I didn't like the music or audio. It's doubtful but I'd like it if a mod existed that fixed some of its issues.

I think the music in Final Bout was by Yamamoto, the same guy who did the music in Butoden and other DBZ games. A lot of the themes are straight remakes from Butoden themes.

Nah, the Butouden games are great
>dashing with L and R
>being able to switch between ground and air
>big ass stages with split-screen to make use of all the dashing and flying
They still play like traditional fighting games, like SFII, but also implement unique elements that are actually fun and feel like DBZ battles.

We're still not missing much I guess, but it'd be a great curiosity to pop up. AFAIK the only mention of it at all is in that one club nintendo issue, couldn't ever find anything else about it anywhere else.

Only during last decade i was able to spot a bootleg copy of SB2 when before in my life only was able to see bootlegs of SB3, heck, once i found a place where i bought a sealed copy of Captain Tsubasa V and a VHS of sailormoon and they have boxed copies of bootleg SB2 and 3.

among CiB games like Megaman X2 and X3 and i regret not buying them because i was poor at the time, but now i dont care since X3 sucks ass.

THIS, if some asspies had enough autism of the worst kind to add a fucking ninja turtle to that meme sailormoon fighting game on the super famicom, why not upgrade Super Butoden 2 by adding Krillin & Freeza (edited sprites of Retsuden), c18 and Buu from SB3, add the stages of SB3 and redraw the stages of SB2 to have the same color depth and detail of SB3, would be the tits.

Hold on, these channel ahs literal connection with the surviving staff of NintendoMania, and they had one special dedicated to Dragonball and even had Brenda Nava aboard (she was the translator of many 90s animes dubbed in mexico), i wonder if someone superchatted them about the beta version if they still had it, but sadly Gus is no longer with us.
