Have you played any retro games that are more complicated or just as complicated as your actual job?

Yes, all of them
t. NEET

I unload trucks.

Most jobs are not complicated at all, just tiring

My last job was janitorial, so most games are more complicated than changing garbage bags in a food court, and wiping tables down.

I'm a banker. The answer is all of them. I have always thought wow..if I put in the intensity and complexity of thought I put into dota into irl profit ventures...

>> No.8733446

I'm in SE for finance, so, no.. not even close. Most of is don't even understand what we are working on. Nobody seems to

SE as in Software Engineering?

>> No.8733834

>>8733307
Complicated, no. Difficult, arguably yes, I've never finished a single platformer.

That's super interesting.

You must have a very simple job.

Grew up with RCT2, became steelworks engineer. Coincidence? Maybe. Unfortunately not the rollercoaster industry though.

and if they are complicated, they’re not gratifying like games

Arguably StarCraft, because although my job in software dev has a "fog of war" element, I can just stop working until it's time to explain something's unknown. Meanwhile, in SC, enemies are coming to kill you and you need to prepare for it without knowing what it could be.

>> No.8734325

Well I’m a programmer, the only game that I thought was quite complicated is Factorio, I do t enjoy that level of autism.

>> No.8734342

I was very close to trying to throw myself at engineering and theme park ride design because of RCT

I'm the night worker at a halfway house, and it's a braindead job. Most games are more complicated than it anyway. I play video games just to keep myself occupied.

>> No.8734402

Militaryfag here. Retro games can be about as much of a headache slog as the job, and significantly more complicated.

Not as bad as Fallout 4 though. "Another mandatory class first thing in the morning after your 24 hour shift needs your signature on paper Anon!"

No, my job is significantly more complicated than any game I've played.

Panzer General. I'm not made for spinning that many plates.

>> No.8734503

Not many games come close to being a research scientist doing stochastic modelling.

Capitalism Plus always has me confused, though

Many such games.

Here's the first game to actually simulate a job experience. A group got organized to do something, but one retard screwed it all up. That's more or less what all jobs are like.

99% of the complexity of any job is dealing with retarded co-workers and their retarded social/political games. No single player game can truly replicate an actual job.

There's a difference between doing pajeetshit and proving finite sample bias of penalty functions no matter what random shit you throw at your estimator.

Factorio is my perpetual timesink. It's really nice having something with a series of small tractable steps that I can guarantee will actually work.
