My N64 died after 11 years in my service, so I decided to have a Cremation during Fireworks Day instead of simply throwing it out. Throw up some salutes and tell us your wrecked systems memories.

Another pic of the funeral.

I remember after the old CRT monitor broke, my older brother wanted to take a baseball bat to it out back, but mom wouldn't allow it.

Good. Those things can be fucking dangerous.

It was like the image on the CRT was folded in on itself. You could literally see the the mouse curling around towards the bottom as you moved it up, and there was an incredibly bright white bar hanging above this.

My older brother brought a broken crt monitor home once (from a news station) and we took it behind our house where there was a large area of concrete. Then he proceded to throw it as high as possible to see if it would "land".

I've handled thousands of CRTs in my line of work. It is NOT a good idea to just break the things like that unless you keep your distance. They are godly displays, but fuck's sake, they can shock you and even kill you if you dick with them.

>Setting a console on fire when you could've sold/given it to someone to use for scrap parts

Unless it was completely unfixable, you're a moron OP.

>> No.874403

It's probably in no worse shape than before.
The only Nintendo product that's ever quit on me is a DS Fat when it landed on a hinge.

I still consider my PlayStation my "original" Playstation even though the only original parts left are the controller ports, top half of the casing, and power supply.

OP, I have at least 3 additional n64's in my house (don't judge me) and I'd be willing to give one to you (please don't burn it). Where you living at?

>> No.874428

I don't think I've ever had a retro console flat-out die. I replaced my original SNES because it has a busted AC port, and it was easier to buy a new one instead of fucking around with it every time. I sure as hell didn't burn it though, it's sitting on my shelf.

Thanks for the offer, but I also had a spare, because I foresaw this happening when it started to bug out sometimes. It got played 10 ways to death for over 10 years and I originally bought it used and in bad shape. Those Pokemon stickers are not mine...

How does one even have a broken N64?

That console is immortal. Take it from someone who still has their original one after it was submerged in a flood and pissed on by a dog.

OP you chumpstuck

Short of circuitry fizzling from overdraw, there's literally NOTHING that can kill an N64. Even the cartridge pin slot can be fixed. It's a solid state device with no moving parts.

The internal pins on the power supply probably started to rust. Happened to my N64, which caused it to reset randomly. I took it apart and scratched off the rust with a flathead screwdriver, and now it runs fine again. Some people just assume the worst the second something stops working as intended.

HOW? Its about as dangerous as smashing a window. Put some safety glasses on and smash away. I've made countless explosives and my own firearms when I was a teenager and I still have all my fingers now. If the prospect of danger stops you from doing things I feel for you man.
