Secret of mana is going to be the most popular choice

Shouldn't it be past your bedtime?

Here's a few off the top of my head:

Soul Blader/Soul Blazer
Illusion of Gaia
Terra-fuckin-nigma (terrinigma)
Alcahest
Ys series
Seiken densetsu series

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Legend of Zelda Four Swords

I don't see the appeal of Secret of Mana unless you like getting stunlocked repeatedly.

I disagree. And further, I believe you're wrong about your opinion.

Thank god, someone else that shares my arguably shitty opinion.

I think the first Mana game on GB and the Quintet trilogy are superior.

The music, while mainly ambient, is fantastic and moody. The graphics are clear and colorful with a distinct art style. The gameplay is fluid and combat is quick and fun. And the story is simple enough to follow without stopping to think, while having just enough mystery now and then to keep it interesting.

Sure, sometimes it's tedious to level up your weapons, but the game is perfectly beatable without doing so intentionally, so that's up to the player. And yeah, a few of the dungeon mazes were confusing, but they weren't all that difficult if you just drew a rough map on a piece of paper. I think the people who hate this game do so because of really superficial problems that they can't get over for some reason. It's a fun game.

I disagree on SoM stunlocking you, the only enemies who ever do that are the axe wielding goblins at the dwarves mines (gaia's navel) and by that point in the game you have the whip and crossbow and you're supposed to hit them from afar or switch your controlled characters.

OP, try Gauntlet Legends (Dreamcast or Playstation versions if you're emulating) or Diablo.

You don't really need to draw maps on an action rpg, that's kind of against the whole point.

The dungeons are pretty straightforward.

Someone's still butthurt over SD3 and still wants to take out their frustration on Evermore.

I'm convinced I suck complete ass at the game. Are Secret of Evermore or SD3 better about the stunlock? I don't mind that it's there, but it feels excessive in SoM.

I mention that because a lot of people who I've talked to who didn't like the game have said the dungeons and mazes were frustrating. Like the forest maze.

Not really an RPG, but look up D&D Shadow Over Mystara

Funny how there is literally no link between SoE being released and SD3 not coming to America.

Exactly.
