1. You're right. It is awesome.
2. Lots of nerds hate on it because it's so popular
3. If you really seriously don't know what's going on don't ask nerds to spoil it for you.

Congratulation, you just got to the part in the game where the story really starts to ramp up. Until now it's been mostly meaningless chasing of Sephiroth, but now you start getting into the real meat and mystery of the game.

BTW: I noticed you posting screenshots in an earlier thread. Keep going. I just recently replayed and rebeat it for the first time in like 10 years and rediscovered my love for it, I'd love to see a FF7 virgin playthrough reactions thread.

Protip: Don't leave Nibelheim until you fully explore the Mansion, that includes unlocking the safe and checking the basement.

Also, when you get to the MT Nibel section, the Boss there teaches an Enemy Skill that is incredibly usefull and rare (Trine). Make sure you get it now or your options are severely limited throughout the rest of the game.

I've played through it a dozen times and I still don't fully understand it.

just name everybody Sephiroth and it makes a lot more sense

I always get upset at the bit where Sephirtoh, Sephiroth and Sephiroth witness Sephiroth stabbing Sephiroth.

You used Sephiroth and Sephiroth?
Pleb, everyone knows Sephiroth Sephiroth and Sephiroth is GOAT team

Keep checking the catalog. Ill probably keep posting updates.

I had never gotten past the "desert jail" section with tje chocobo race before now, so im a complete virgin atm. Enjoying the fuck out of this game. In no way am i finding it over rated.

25 years old, btw.

Same here. Since the last time I beat it was when I was, like, 16, the game seemed even better than I remembered it. The plot seemed clearer and much more mature than I remembered it. Not only that but I felt like I was able to powergame it better. Knowing more about AP growth and stuff I planned ahead and was able to have enough Mastered Materias to get a Master Command and Master Magic as soon as I got to Disc 3. For extra challenge I took on both weapons without using KotR at all and was incredibly proud of myself for beating them like that.

But yeah, FF7 is easily my all time favorite game and seeing someone play it for the first time is a strange joy, so I'll be monitoring your progress

I still dont really understand fully what half tje items in my inventory are or what half my materia does. Ill probably have to play through a second tie to fully get it.

Also, what in the fuuucccccckkkkkkkkk

That's the boss I mentioned earlier. Make sure to learn Trine from him or you'll only have 1 other chance to do it in the game.

Also, it's very worth taking some spare time to mess around with Materia setups. there are a lot of combinations you can utilize to make combat better/more interesting

For example, I always like putting Added Effect + Time materia in a linked slot for my weapon. It will slow or stop enemies every once in a while. I'm sure you already know this, but it's still worth experimenting with.

I think i completely missed it. How am i supposed to get him to teach me trine?

>> No.872687

>>872685
All you need to do is have your Enemy Skill Materia equipped and get hit with it. Your person will do a little spin in place and it'll say "Learned Trine" at the top of the sceen

i dont even think i have that materia.

Apparently i am terrible at this game.

That's not the case all the time. I personally think that VI is superior to VII, due to a better story. VII just got a lot of praise because fanboys were like "oh em gee final fantasy in 3d".

>>872693
OP here. This is my first FF that im putting any real time into, but this story is sick. If VI is better, i cant even imagine how good it is. I just really love the whole terrorism/power/reactor side to it.

I agree the story has it's strong points, but you can never go wrong with a steampunk fantasy with magic, talking octopuses, Kefka, and (the best thing about the game) the end track Dancing Mad.

Dude, it's your first playthrough, and I believe from the other thread about Tifa , this may be one of your first Final Fantasy games? Chill.

All of the Final Fantasy games have obscure stuff you can miss, and VII was really bad about that, having several things that could be missed if you didn't meet some conditions the first and only chance you had!

>> No.872714

>>872693
I enjoy VI as well, but come on, man. VII was THE landmark effort of the PlayStation. A lot of money went into the animation sequences, and I can respect it for the time in which it came out.

Yeah, my main objecrive is just to beat the game and understand the lour so i know what people are talking about when the game is brought up. Ill figure all that other stuff out if I run through it a second time.

Though ill probably move on to VIII and IX next.

They wanted to blow consumer's minds because the past Final Fantasy titles were graphically impressive, even revolutionary, so they felt the need to do that on the more advanced consoles.

But I do completely agree that the opening is one of the most cinematic/brilliant moments in video gaming.
