If it was 2004 and I was a 14 year old now, I'd say Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. I played story mode (which they now call "deleted scenes"?) unhealthy amount of times.

Nowadays, I'm super nostalgic for Unreal Tournament and Quake 3, both of which I played on Dreamcast back in the day. I have Q3 disc for PC somewhere in my stuff, maybe I should go find it and have some fun with bots.

Cool levels, amazing late 90s DbB soundtrack. Awesome weapons. Fast exciting gameplay. Still has a small but active community online. Lots of mods for custom characters and levels. The bots are really fun to play against as well with lots of different difficulty settings and custom mutators for matches. My 2 favorite music tracks on it are "Nether Animal" and "Foregone Destruction". Check out many of the videos highlighting tower sniping on the map "Facing Worlds".

>> No.8725491

Hey Anon, sorry for late reply. It is my favorite of the UT series. I own them all and I would say that 04 is second best to 99 goty. Both are excellent games but I think 99 did everything the series was supposed to do the first time. There are certain maps from 99 that one would have to import with mods to 04 to play. Like SpaceNoxx. When playing 04 I mostly play on the maps that were ported in from 99 anyways. 04 has onslaught mode with vehicles and large maps where your team must capture control points that connect across the map in order to take out enemies base. I find these maps fun but not as fun as normal deathmatch ctf assault smaller maps due to them playing out slower and more down time just traveling across the map. So in a way everything that was ADDED to 04 was just kind of fluff to me. When it comes to the point where you are searching the internet to import maps that were already playable in 99 most of the time you just sorta realize why not just play 99. Hope this helps.

>> No.8725696

>>8725491
>Hope this helps
It did, I think I'll give it a go. 04 has been giving me technical problems lately so I've gotten frustrated with it anyhow. 04 actually has this bug where it can't properly adjust mouse input based on changes in fov, meaning you need to have the exact right fov for your sensitivity settings to actually be what they say they are in the menu. This makes the fov change that occurs when you scope in with the sniper rifle completely fuck your mouse up on certain 64 bit systems, making sniping near impossible.

I've been told 99 has this same issue, do you have any experience with what I'm talking about?

Also if you should so happen to download the game from https://www.gog.com/ which would be my personal choice.

By the way only use the download links from the pcgamingwiki links because the links from the gog forum are outdated and no longer usable. I just sent the gog forum link to easily list what is missing from the gog release so you can easily download the missing pieces on the pcgamingwiki pages. Have fun!

Half-life 1

Lots of reasons. It has a really cool setting; high-tech desert lab, fun enemies (various alien monsters + soldiers/assassins + turrets), lots of good weapons (including my favorite: m16 with m203), and most importantly: it's not just a shooter, it also has puzzles and platforming but they aren't arbitrary "find the hidden keycard" shit.
