They have some issues but honestly very minimal (Sonic 2 has slowdowns, but then it removed some slowdown that the original already had).
The ports are worth it for the Time Attack mode and the special stage select, also spindash on Sonic 1.
Don't have any of that on the posterior emulated comps.
Not even mentioning the presentation.

I used to own Sonic Jam. Still have the originals on Genesis. It's a little better than some of the later Sonic compilations because it was an actual port and tried to add some extra stuff, but all the sound effects in the original games are off and sound weird or muffled.
Also Sonic World gets boring after 2 minutes.

iirc they're actually higher quality than on Genesis. But some of them do sound different. I give it a pass because it's not jarring (like the jump sound in Sonic CD), and as you said, they're PORTS.
Sonic World got me entertained for at least an hour, doing all the challenges was fun, although sad at the same time, knowing we could have gotten a 3D Sonic game that played more like Sonic in 3D instead of whatever the fuck Adventure was.
I still find it soulful to revisit, sometimes I just run around without any objective, go see some videos, or use the music house to listen to music.

Not really. In Sonic World, Sonic gets a max speed but you can still control him.
Adventure gets al twitchy and on-rails once you reach max speed. Also auto aim jump attack or whatever it's called.
As for visuals, well, Sonic in Sonic World is still Sonic, not that weird lanky thing from Adventure. And the art direction in World is basically classic Sonic, but in 3D, not uncanny realistic 3D landscapes.

I got the original JPMD games 15+ years ago. Funny that JPMD S&K is the most expensive now. The box on mine is in mediocre shape as best, guessing that pushes the price up
