Could be fun. How do we "help"? Just record gameplay and send it to you?

Well, anybody is welcome to record a video for the channel. I'm not sure of the best way to send it to me yet, because I'm not going to allow people to access my account directly.

Basically, someone can record a video of any game that they want and send it to me. Make sure to give some sort of nickname to go by, so I can give you credit for it. People who decide to REALLY help by doing multiple videos for the channel or to help promote it or whatever, will be considered an actual member of the VGE Team.

So yeah. Basically at the moment that's it. It can be any game you want and you can play it for as long as you see fit. These aren't LPs, so you don't want to play all the way through them.

It sounds like it could be a fun way to spend some time.
Once you figure out the best way to send footage, I'll be up for it.

For the time being, it'd probably be easiest to use some form of File sharing site to temporarily trade videos. Something like Putlocker or Mega is a quick way to stash n' grab.

I use FRAPS to record and Handbrake to encode. FRAPS is easy to use, but the file sizes get freaking HUGE. But with handbrake I can convert it to a MUCH smaller size.

No emus or roms plz.

I already have FRAPS. I'll be sure to reduce the file size of any footage. Might send in some stuff today or tomorrow.

Why should I give you my footage? How is this different from a Let's Play?

Because it's a sample video. The main purpose of the channel is too show off some of each game. I don't want to show off the entire game, I just want to show enough to garner interest from those that might want to play it. Most of the videos will only show off the first level or two, a dungeon or something along that nature.

It can show the basic mechanics of the game.

I might do something for shits and giggles.

Instead of starting a whole site of your own, why not just work with the guys over at http://thegamesdb.net/ seeing how they've already got a huge database of games complete with artwork, trailers and all that?

Well I was trying to record some shit off an emulator but no emulators are letting me customize controls, all of a sudden. I press "Define" and it starts asking me for "DOWN". Then is quickly skips left and goes to right, then quickly skips A and goes to B, etc.

Tried a different emulator. Hit "Define". Instantly it flashed through all the controls without letting me define any of them. This is pissing me off.

Most likely a problem with the controller or the drivers. I had this problem once, and I just had to wipe the controller drivers and give them a fresh install, and things worked just fine.

If any of you know of good places to advertise and/or recruit for the channel, let me know. I really do want to turn this into a thing. Let's see if we can turn it into a new record of videos on a single account. lol

I'm wanting to try and do up to five videos a day. Even then it will take a butt-load of time. There are still a goodly 1800 roms to sift through and that's just for the NES.

When I do happen to find games that I want to play...they will probably take me awhile. I'm quite partial to RPG and Platformer titles, so my LPs will likely be one of those two genres most of the time.

They seem to rely on youtube for trailers, so they couldn't include porn scenes even if they wanted.
On Moby Games they do actually include screenshots of the sex scenes in porn games though, or at least that one Jewish guy who makes all the entries for those obscure Japanese titles always uploads them:

I think that's a good policy when the goal is to document games in a semi-scientific manner, but they should really tag porno pics as NSFW and give you a setting to hide them.

For porn games, VNDB.org is the way to go anyway.

At the moment I'm concentrating on the NES. However, after awhile I will start uploading multiple systems at once.

Will you only start uploading a library's console once you're certain the game's library is complete?

IE You'll upload the Gamecube's, but not the Wii's

It doesn't really matter. I'm using a numbering system for my videos at the moment, but that's only because of the fact it's complete. When it comes to newer consoles or computer games, then I'm not going to worry about it. Playlist-wise my videos will always be in alphabetical order though.

In fact, for anybody interested in helping me with the channel, newer consoles and computer games are VERY welcomed. I'm currently on a semi-crappy comp, so basically anything past the PS1-N64 era is kinda iffy for me. People are still free to record whatever they want, but those are games that I most likely won't be able to cover myself.

I'm going to continue working on the channel tomorrow. I've been getting sucked into a game called Unepic, so I might be doing a LP of that on the side.

Any luck getting recordings?

this sounds pretty interesting. I might be interested in doing a playthrough. I have a youtube channel myself where I do playthroughs. I've only done like 3 games so far though.

Actually, they have it pretty much attached with Google+ now. When you make an account for YouTube, it automatically makes you a Gmail account and that is what it goes by.

They give you the option for it and I think it'd be neat, but I am terrible at things like that.

Is there a reason YouTube doesn't like flashy pixels?

I've noticed on both my 8 Eyes and Abadox videos that characters don't flash when they get hit. They either stay solid or will disappear until the flashing effect stops. Not that big a deal, just slightly annoying.
