Did the ending ruin it for you? What's your favorite Ace Combat game?

Never played this because I didn’t like how it’s less grounded, no pun intended (flight nor electricity).

It literally takes place in a fictional universe in the 2040's and is still correctly predicting upcoming breakthroughs in military technology

>Did the ending ruin it for you?
No, game endings rarely ruin my enjoyment. I think AC3 is quite memorable.
>What's your favorite Ace Combat game?
Tossup between AC0 and AC3JP. Both are top tier for different reasons. AC04 and ACX are close seconds.
>>8706678
He's probably referring to the true ending where Nemo is revealed to be an AI and that the entire game is a training simulation.

Ace Combat 3 is the best flight game of the 90's, and is also the best Ghost In The Shell game ever made, too. After you play it, every other game from that decade is just inferior in varying degrees, except for AC2.

i think ac4 is a perfect game on the level of precision of gt3

gotta go with Zero. love the return to multiple sub weapons per plane. best variety of jets, coolest story, best way of unlocking every jet. fun and memorable live-action cut-scenes.

>Corporations becoming more powerful than countries and effectively making the rules
>Corporate wars
>The (fictional representation of) the UN showing its inneffectiveness as a peacekeeping organization
>Neural technology linking pilots to their planes
>AI-controlled jets
>Machine learning and combat simulations
>Mind uploading
>Megafloats
>Cyberwarfare (first actual death caused by this was in 2019)
>Space warfare (soon)
>Drone wingmen squadrons that follow the orders of one pilot
>Datalink systems that share combat information between pilots in a squadron
>Virtual projection helmets linked to camera arrays mounted around the canopy that lets the pilot see through the plane itself, giving a much larger field of view
>The main villain is a jew
All in 1999.

I started with Air Combat on the PSX. I really liked 3 and 04 as a kid, still haven't tried 3jp but I heard it's way more in-depths.
Ace Combat is nice because of the setting and the scenario, but for the gameplay I much prefer Aero Dancing i/4 or the games from the Energy Airforce series

Thanks for the write up! Sure sounds like a fun story kek. But how the fuck is this all told through dialogue in gameplay? Seriously, when I played Ace Combat 7 I had a great time but the entire story just passed me by. To think that there is actual world building going on in these exchanges between pilots is pretty great.

>> No.8710956

>>8710937
7 is a mess on multiple fronts, the story in the rest of the games is generally much better. 3 requires you to get half a dozen different endings to see the final ending based on a few decision points you have to save before like choosing which company you want to fly with or if you want to defect and shit, the rest of the games are all mostly linear with maybe a mission or two different if you fail certain objectives or take too long, and it doesn't change the story.

One friend of mine showed me a clip of the PSP game where one of your comrades defects mid mission and comes back in another and you have to fight him as an enemy. Sounded super kino and based on the other anons summary of the story events I think I am going to play through the entire franchise now lol.

You still haven't? Ace Combat is one of the best videogame franchises of all time. Every game is a spectacle excepy assault horizon, don't play that one.

I like starting at the beginning anyways so I can see it properly evolve. Thanks for the heads up though!
Any by the way, emulation for the PS1 games should be fine right? I never had any problems with PS1 emulation.

Absolutely zero relation. AH Legacy is, in fact, a remake of AC2. And it was called Cross Rumble in Japan.

Assault Horizon Legacy (also called Cross Rumble) is a remake of Ace Combat 2. I heard it's a good game, and at some points more coherent than the original AC2. Yeah it has nothing to do with Assault Horizon.
