How are Enter the Matrix and Path of Neo?

>> No.8704229

Enter the Matrix was cool, because it showed Reloaded & Revolutions from the perspective of Niobe & Ghost, and it showed stuff that happened in between Reloaded & Revolutions. I never played Path of Neo, but my understanding is that it's just replaying Neo's scenes from the movie.

All I remember from path of Neo was the last boss where the Wachoskis pop up and tell you this is what the really wanted for the movies end and that was Neo fighting a 100ft giant agent Smith made up from all the other Smiths, that and a level where you kung-fu fight giant ants.

Enter the Matrix:
>Fun sidestory, some cool moments, expanded the movie a little bit
Path of Neo:
>Intentionally retarded but in a fun way
Play Enter if you want a decent overall experience. Play Path if you like God Mode wrecking trash mobs by the hundreds, and absolute zero-challenge, zero-IQ ridiculousness doesn't bore you.

I hated Path but some like it in a dumb fun way. Enter was legit quality but the gameplay gets anemic towards the end.

I liked Enter the Matrix but it still is a clearly unfinished game.

I remember liking ETM, even though it needed hardware that could handle a lot more polygons. A remake in Unreal Engine would be nice but The Matrix IP is dead

The unlockable fighting game was not worth the effort, though.

>> No.8704942

If you want to play it the xbox version is required.
Unlocking the sword was great.

They should have hired Remedy to do these games.

I grew up playing ETM, this shit was my jam. Beat it dozens of time with both characters and I can be totally honest, it actually really sucks. The tank controls are janky, you're either at full sprint or standing-still, every weapon is auto-aim and have no punch whatsoever, it looks like ass, and the bugs and glitches are present at every turn. The best level in the game is the airport, since it's entirely different for the two characters, and it shows what they actually wanted to do for the rest of the game but ran out of time. Every other level has minimal changes or is actually completely the same.
The hand-to-hand feels nice and it is a novelty to see the extra scenes they filmed with Niobe and Ghost just for the game. Play it, but don't expect much.

Contrary to everyone else I vastly preferred Path of Neo, which has many of the same problems but gets away with it because it's not taking itself nearly as seriously.

I still have that airport level ingrained in my skull.

"He's trying to escape! He's trying to escape!"
"How did he come up?"
"Keep him away from that piano!"

I would point out that Matrix 4 came out just a few months ago but given how that turned out I think you're right. The memes didn't even last a week. That's shit's dead..

Remember how hyped we all were when the trailer dropped? I guess we should have known better

I just saw some direct tv ad using the matrix clips.

It's sad isn't it? A good movie survives on the back of its own quality, a bad movie can survive on the quality of its memes. This movie tried too hard to be clever and meta which made any memes kinda forced, and so it killed its own chance at cult status.
I don't wanna get janny banned again by talking movies on the retro game board, so I'm also gonna talk about how terrible some of the mocap work in Enter the Matrix was.
Watching Niobe twitch awkwardly in the void, telling off Ghost as he randomly taps the clip against his gun in the first cutscene looked crap even when I was 10

>> No.8707089

Enter is ambitious as fuck for the time it came out, I don't know why they shit on it so hard at launch other than for the sorta stiff animations
