The options on the "Shoot" menu were: SHOOT, ITEMS, MAGIC, CHECK and RUN, all within a box on the bottom part of the screen while the upper half had an animated image of either a princess or a boy, with a quote. This is supposed to be paroding a typical battle screen of JRPGs of the time. Every option had a function, of course, but they stuck in the "RUN" option as a gag, as a complement of the "RPG battle screen" look. The game supposedly makes fun of you when you try to chose the "RUN" option by throwing you a silly picture of one of one of the game developers or someone else from the Game Freak's offices (probably), with quotes like "who are you running from?" or "don't be so silly" accompanied by "error"-like sfx, but my favorite one had the quote "You are now crossing the Equator Jambo Nintendo!", which probably was nothing more than an inner joke between the game developers which nobody else is supposed to get.

I'm surprised by the amount of people that doesn't know this. I actually figured it out when I was a kid and owned a GB Camera, specially since at the time I also played Pokemon and Super Mario RPG.

I never had a GB Camera and that was the one image I had never seen so I looked that image up and noticed that it's a representation of africa with the word equator near the bottom section of it. Did nintendo recently open up a branch in south africa? Or is this Game Freak's firs product to be released there?
