People started buying broken GBAs and motherboards for modding, because it was cheaper than complete consoles and they didn't have to worry about "ruining" a working unit.
Resellers picked up on it and flipped the scale, but never bothered to ask whether it made sense.

It's not enough that he has to look like an obnoxious faggot in all his thumbnails I scroll past, he has to artificially drive up prices in the retro gaming market every time he makes a stupid video telling the normalfags about a slightly obscure game.
And now hes going to make GBAs expensive because of his trendy bullshit.

Fuck this gay earth.

sadly this is true to an extent across the board as well. I used to buy up broken old vidya consoles, knowing that in almost all instances (at least prior to PS2/GC/XB or so) you can probably get the thing up and running just with some basic soldering skills and electrical know-how. But that ship seems to have sailed, and now even broken consoles on ebay are all listed/bid to high prices, all for something that's a total gamble. Fucking bullshit.

Are there any consolizer kits with 240p analogue output instead of HDMI? I have a spare GBA that's essentially unusable because the metal contact pads under the d-pad have been completely worn away. Would be a pretty good candidate for consolization, but I prefer playing low-res stuff on a CRT.

because the used hardware market is currently in peak clown world, prices are absolutely insane. I don't even want to know how much a gamecube + gameboy player + startup disc cost nowadays. And then on top of that, normalfags probably want to play on their HDTV, when means needing one of those carby/eon/whatever things as well. And yes, I know GBI exists and is superior to the startup disc, but I'm just making a point here.
If someone is only interested in playing GBA games on their flat screen, needing to buy all the extra gamecube stuff probably isn't worthwhile. Shame that this is the current state of things though.

Gameboy players aren't expensive, startup discs are. You don't need the startup disc though.

>> No.8615931

>>8615826
I know, like I said. But most people are either ignorant or want the "full thing" and thus they want the official disc too. But even discounting that, we're still talking about buying a GBP and GC and then a component/HDMI adapter if a normie wants to use that setup to play GBA games on their HDTV. Oh, and not to mention needing to buy an adapter cable for something like a SNES controller since the GC controller is AIDS for playing gameboy stuff.

Point is all this adds up, so it's not necessarily a more viable solution for people UNLESS they also want or already have gamecube stuff too. But if someone is purely wanting a gameboy solution, that's a lot of extra shit compared to a GBA and an HDMI consolizer kit

I personally have several cubes and all the gameboy player hardware/software etc and use gameboy interface to play in 240p on a CRT. And I would never sacrifice one of my gameboys for this. But I can understand the situation in which someone would go that route.
