You have to manage your speed to pass/stop at stations as close to the arrival time as possible. Top center is kinda like your life. You lose points for being late, exceeding speed limits, etc. If you get to stations way too early you get a special speed limit you have to respect, making it very likely that you'll be late to the next station and lose points (if you don't respect that speed limit your train will be forcibly stopped and then you're pretty much fucked because there's no way you can accelerate and get to the next station before you lose). Then there's stopping at stations where you try to stop at exactly 0 m to get bonus points which is harder than it sounds because trains are heavy as fuck and you have to manage your brakes and not slow down too early or you'll be late. You also get bonus points for passing stations at the exact second.
TL;DR It's more fun and addictive than you'd think.

The Wait Combo and Use Combo mechanic looks interesting, good implementation of action combos for a TTRPG. I remember that Front Mission 5 did action combos in an automatic way, so it was completely different. What other TTRPG do action combos?

Densha de Go! For the PS1 games I'd recommend Densha de Go! Professional because it has all the lines from the first two games and Densha de Go! Nagoya Railroad because it has other lines and the tram from the OP.

Thanks anon. I remember laughing with my friends about Train Simulator on steam years ago, but for some reason DdG really grabs my attention. I guess it's the more arcadey style of it?
Does the game require a special controller? I think I remember seeing N64 versions that came with a big controller, but I might be wrong. Kinda want to pick up the Saturn game since I already have a JP Saturn.

>> No.8609260

>>8609251
There's a special controller you can play with but regular controllers are perfectly fine. I forgot to say the N64 game (which is essentially Densha de Go 2) got a fan translation so you might want to try this one first to learn how to play. I prefer the PS1 games though since they have more content and have lots of high quality soulful train announcements due to being on CD.

>I forgot to say the N64 game (which is essentially Densha de Go 2) got a fan translation
Neat. Maybe I'll give that a shot first.
I'm planning to get a JP PS1 eventually so I can play Persona 1, so I'll probably make a note to pick up a Densha de Go game or two.

If you want to know if something is decent from the NIPs, see if it was localized or not.

The Densha de Go games never got localized simply because most people overseas aren’t interested in Japanese railroads and trains. I would understand if you were talking about a single obscure game that’s not that good but Densha de Go is actually a big, well received series with about 18 games in it
