What happened? Is it dead in America? I never see it mentioned. I didn't even know they still made it until recently. Is it still good?

This might be an actual reason. American Lets Plays are so ubiquitous, why read subtitles on a much better produced and funnier show. Did Arin Hanson kill GCCX?

He still has a cult following in the west, just like how AVGN has a cult following in Japan.

>Episodes taken down from Youtube
This is what did it. Fuji TV killed the casual US fanbase by removing their main source of episodes to watch. Not everyone downloaded the entire series like us. Now only those into it are still watching, and no one new is getting into it, unless they stop by a GCCX thread here and get interested.

>>8580731
No, just easier to access since you can't watch on youtube anymore.

>> No.8580802

Fansubs started taking forever to come out and fell even more years behind Japan. I eventually stopped bothering to check for new releases since they came out so infrequently.

>> No.8580810

Is there anything even remotely like this or even good anymore? All we have are boring podcasts with people with no personality reading wikipedia pages or youtube lets plays. Nobody writes or produces any actual content about video games. Who else is going to go to old game centers and stores and explore the history of video games?

This Arino was having fun with the word play, because he was fighting playing cards, however.
>The episode was broadcast in early 2017 when trump was just elected
>They used this scene of Arino saying 'I hate trump!' for the game challenge portion of the opening.
>The Arino quote at the start of the episode was 'Kacho vs trump'
>This episode hasn't been subbed yet, so this was specifically translated by gascoin themselves.
>They also included Arino saying 'I hate Trump!' in the recap of the next episode and when the game was introduced at Masse.
Arino maintained plausible deniability by saying 'It's not what you think', but the staff made it a pretty clear shot across the bow.

On the merits of subbing Marchen Maze besides the trump joke. There's the following points.

>Enjoyable challenge where Arino uses his brain in some sections instead of opting to brute force it.
>It is only the second cross season challenge in GCCX history, with the first one being The Quest of Ki.
>Includes the final episode before Yuko Takeda, the narrator for TameGe, left the show.
>Is the final episode where Hirotaka 'Aniki' Watari gives Arino support before he leaves the AD support role.
>Both the opening content and prize section music is changed after 2 seasons.
>It marked the end of the Game Boy Game Collection and the start of the Super Famicom Game Collection
>It included the climax to Faminioaire and the start of 2 Player without Honor or Humanity: Mario Bros arc, some of the stronger segments in the series
>The latter includes the only direct reference to the original AD, Naoki Yamada
>Arino failing the challenge sets the stage for the main event of Arino's Challenge in Makuhari Messe (It's Budokan 2.0)

playing retro games is like trying to eat your own coom

you watch videos to try to hype yourself up to do it but when the game is actually in front of you you don't feel like doing it anymore and if you actually go through with it you just feel disgusted

Oh I will remind you. I'm glad I was able to get all episodes while they were available, the subber/uploader doesn't seem to be active anymore. I wonder why nobody cared enough to pick it up again...

I still watch this every now and then on the TTV channel. I'm pretty sure they are playing 24/7.

It'll typically have over 200 viewers too.
