I should save up for a scanner too, since I want to show some of the Keio Yuugekitai Katugekihen manga which is in these Sega Saturn compilation comic books. It's the US release of the game that costs $1k and it doesn't even have the nipple. It's just that every US Sega CD game goes for retarded prices, and Keio is one of those Sega CD games which is 1. exclusive and 2. is an actual good game, which on the Sega CD is a fucking rarity.

I bought an import copy some years ago and played it on my Laseractive. Gameplay was super generic, didn't find it very memorable at all. Also found some bug which makes the game spaz out on one of the later levels.
Sequel on the Sega Saturn was similarly unremarkable, though it's a platformer.

/vr/ operates at the mentality that fair price for retro stuff is always the $5 bargain bin prices from 2000. So ignore everything said here, go on ebay, search for sega cd console, and tick in the "sold items" box. That'll allow you to extrapolate based on whether the console is complete, what condition it is in, etc.

working sega cd 2 with all cables goes for $200 or so. Not tested / broken parts as-is go for $70-80. If it's not working then most of the time it just has a blown fuse that you have to solder out. For power adapter, iirc they use the megadrive model 1 power supply, which have ground on the inside of the plug - most modern power supplies have ground on the outside. Most people just use the wrong adapter and blow the internal fuse.
Of course it could also have more problems.
Don't mind the looks, you can clean up that thing in a jiffy.

iirc you only need the power adapter, cables are only required if you hook up a Megadrive 1 and want to use the RCA output on the back of the Sega CD. But with a Megadrive 2 that's not a problem since it has stereo output out of the box (MD1 only has Mono on the a/v jack).

No, at best you could import a junk/broken or untested JP Mega CD for that money. And you'd might need to pay import tax on it on top of that. It's not 2003 anymore, you can't get retro consoles for bargain bin prices.
