Get a load of this thing then. Reverse-incline launched station mode. Exits the station, fails to make the loop, rolls back, makes the loop at the second attempt, bounces at the top of the vertical spine and makes it back to the station without any chain lift. Counts 3 inversions.

Not exactly physics as it's caused but the train partially entering the station, but still.

Finally got around to making some progress on this park, including completing the Monorail circuit. The secret to a good looking park is the layout.
Every layout of a ride depends on the layout of the previous rides, buildings, gardens, etc.
Start by selecting a map with a good terrai, a few lakes and rivers, a few hills and mountains.
I usually avoid flat maps because they tend to make monotome and boring looking parks.
The next step involves adding footpaths.
Avoid doing single-line paths because guests will start complaining since they are being jammed in a crowd as more and more guests are coming in your park. I suggest at least doing double-lane paths.
You can then start adding restaurants, buildings, gardens, fountains, etc around the footpaths to make them look more aesthetic.
Finally you can start building some rides. Go wild.
Please note you are not obliged to follow the steps in one go. You can subdivide the park into small sections and build each one as a mini-park.

PS:
I usually avoid building a monorail ride at the beginning of the game.
A transport ride looks best when it looks like it's passing through the layouts of other rides, buildings, gardens, etc.
I suggest building a monorail when the park is around 75% complete. You'll be able to pass the monorail through rides,, buildings, gardens, etc while still having some degree of motion left by the uncompleted sections of the park.

A barrel roll increases vehicle height without calculating a corresponding change in speed, or something like that, so the half roll into corkscrew adds energy.

>> No.8585564

>>8585473
Close. Corkscrews decrease and increase speed while passing through them and it's connected to the start (going into inversion) and end (coming out of inversion) pieces separately, so if you split them with other pieces such as half-loops, twists/barrel rolls, quarter loops, etc and only use *one* corkscrew piece:
- a starting corkscrew that ends in another piece besides an ending corkscrew piece loses extra speed.
- an ending corkscrew piece that started from something other than a corkscrew gains extra speed.

A twist/barrel roll into one can even get a coaster going without a lift at all, it's just going to creep through the twist kinda slow. The gain is enough that when you bring the coaster back to its former elevation (drop to the bottom of the half-loop or rise to the twist height), it's still going faster than when it went through.

Today I misunderstood that the Mine Train Coaster doesn't have powered trains, built a decently long track that would have worked for a Mine Ride, then basically failed the scenario while fixated on it, because I didn't get why it wasn't making the last hills and tried to give it increasingly longer runways to "build up speed" in the mistaken belief that the trains' engine was just super weak and needed more time.

How's your building going?

Not the same but still a problem. RCT1 treated double wide paths as endless intersections meaning constant decision points and constant random-walking. RCT2 still has issues at the boundaries. This was pretty quickly apparent in Crazy Castle with guests walking a loop on the stairs.

>> No.8596326

In parks with huge obnoxious pathing and no rides, do you just cut off the path connections to the wider park at the start? Like Evergreen Gardens as an early example. The guests who wander to the far reaches won't hit rides, will get unhappy, decide to leave, and then also be mad that it's taking them so long to leave (if they aren't lost altogether, which is likely). Or the 2 big castle scenarios with the ring path around on the outer walls, same deal.

Is there a better, or alternative handling of this type of starting park issue? Legit hoping for better because I feel like I'm wasting so much good scenic space by denying it, I just can't see it working well especially at scenario start where dropping your dough on a big transport ride would cripple you.

A lot of scenarios are designed around mitigating flaws. Some people cheese it by getting a refund for all the paths but you can go more naturally with no entry signs and fences and opening a section at a time as you get rides into it. Do that quicker by building across a long main thoroughfare instead of stacking the entrance before branching out.

The no-entry serves no purpose in the fence case either, you have a fence.
and
>wasting time on timed scenarios nitpicking your staff paths
I hope you don't do this, or pause the game to nitpick and prolong everything for something already solved by a blocked path. You're going to hire like 30+ dudes over the course of a scenario, don't waste such time.

It's good practice, solves problems that extend well beyond this case and hardly takes any time at all. Each time you add an employee to cover the space of a few additional rides requiring them, you assign them to that space by spending like fifteen seconds painting it.

It was important to mention that, if using no entry signs, you need to control staff, but you're just being an absolute fuck now.
