The Atari 2600 wasn't the best console on release nor is it worth paying today.
There's still fun to be had with the classic 8-bit consoles but the 2600 is so primitive and obsoleted by what came after that the only possible reason for playing it is the novelty factor. Why play Adventure when you could play Zelda?

You could argue that Magnavox Odyssey 2 is a Euro console because Philips bought Magnavox in 1974 and the console was first released in Europe as Philips Videopac G7000. Odyssey 2 had a solid third place in America before the arrival of ColecoVision and it was huge in Brazil.
