This has to be the most inane nonsense ever put on a console. Even Sega didn't print blast processing on the front of the Genesis.

>> No.8555135

The Neo Geo? Absolutely. Based console. The X? No. It’s got atrocious emulation, tons of stuttering and screen tearing, terrible video output and is obscenely expensive for a weak product. Just buy the games individually cause they’re available on nearly every console or emulate.

Sorry, I meant the original neo geo arcade stick. I just grabbed the first image off google

I like the size and form factor of it a lot which is why I'm interested

Oh right. In that case, yes. They’re very good and sturdy. Age might have done some damage and ware to them though, so be cautious

I heard that AES sticks are heavier than the AES itself.

If you mean the stick itself - it's pretty damn bad. A cheap-feeling lever and scratchy, cheap buttons. I dunno how it compares to the original Neo-Geo stick, but compared to modern offerings, it's pretty damn bad.

>MAX 330 MEGA
Alright, the maximum ROM size was 330 megabits, but 8MB doesn't sound as MEGA I guess, so they went with the megabits.
>PRO GEAR SPEC
Cringe inducing corporate shit that literally means nothing.
>ADVANCED ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM
Despite the fact that it used the basic bitch 68K CPU that was developed in the 70s and practically abandoned for the 68020, 68030, and ARM2 already? Despite the fact that SNKeks had to brute their way with 214 KB fast and expensive SRAM because they were too retarded to make use of the much cheaper and more efficient blitter co-processor technology? It's like sticking some barb wire to a baseball bat and labelling it SUPER ADVANCED HOME DEFENSE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT SHORT RANGE WEAPON SYSTEM.

>Alright, the maximum ROM size was 330 megabits, but 8MB doesn't sound as MEGA I guess, so they went with the megabits.
330 megabits is 40 megabytes, do the fucking math. Meanwhile, Genesis had 4 megabytes, same with SNES. It was well worth bragging about.
>Cringe inducing corporate shit that literally means nothing.
Different phrases were used for different games. Later titles used bank switching to expand cart size, and those used a "Giga Power Pro-Gear Spec" subtitle, while games over 100 megabits had a "The 100Mega Shock" splash screen.
>It's like sticking some barb wire to a baseball bat and labelling it SUPER ADVANCED HOME DEFENSE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT SHORT RANGE WEAPON SYSTEM.
It was literally the name of the fucking system, you absolute sperglord. Neo-Geo AES, where AES stands for "Advanced Entertainment System". The arcade unit was called Neo-Geo MVS, "Multi Video System". Were you losing your shit just as hard over Super Nintendo Entertainment System, or have you just got into the contrarian mood to look cool on a board full of people twice as old as you are?

Even today most memory parts are measured in megabits. "Mega" was a very common way of abbreviating that while distinguishing it from megabytes. You'd know that if you'd been around back then.
The basic SPEC of the AES is exactly the same as the MVS. The GEAR used in the arcade systems. Those machines ure used by PROfessionals who run business in the form of an arcade. As opposed to amateurs who play on the nintendo their daddy bought them.
The AES was literally a consolized arcade system you could plug to your TV and play at home. You can cope and seethe all you want but all it does it out you as an angry little poorfag whose still sitting there playing with his weenie.

Giga power? Pro gear? Mega Shock? Do you think they mean anything? You'd need to have the mentality of an 8 year old to be impressed by those cringe shit.
>Multi Video System
>zero multimedia feature and only plays one format of video games
yikes
>the name of the fucking system
It's literally a pile of buzzwords without any sense, purpose, or coherence. Literally a 3rd grader's idea of cool and awesome.
>Super Nintendo Entertainment System
It's a shitty name, but neo geo catchphrases are 10 times more cringe inducing.

Last time I played with one was in the 90s, I hate sticks though so I only got (a ton of) SNK CD pads for my AES consoles and can't say for sure about the weight but they just MUST be heavier!

The only thing that's cheap on the AES is it's weight and thin resonant plastic shell that feels like it will break with a crisp snap at any moment, it's like the Genesis plastic shell but like only 1/2 of the thickness. I've had them for decades now without breaking though so I guess they're durable enough, but yeah deceptively light and fragile feeling the AES.

It would be pretty heavy, because the way AES stick is structured is actually pretty ridiculous. This is what the button assembly looks like, I'm pretty familiar with arcade stick internals and it was the first time I've seen shit like this.

I replaced my old one with this about 7? years ago and I haven't looked back since, it's better in every way. It's larger, so it has wider coverage; it has noticeably more weight. I can open a window now and never have to worry about my papers flying everywhere. 10/10 would recommend.
