Naturally, I always liked Mario. Even if they changed him to be an Italian later, I always thought he was a role model for any young aspiring New Yorker. But when he put his life in danger to save that chick not once, but many times, my opinion of him slowly started turning sour. Surely he wasn't doing it for the greater good, I thought. Time passed and as I observed the cracks slowly converging, the facade crumbled and I saw what was hidden underneath. Mario isn't who the masses think he is. I was quite appalled, and still am, in fact. I do not know what to do with this information, but I do know that Mario must be dealt with. We can bring Luigi to our side, he's the key in all this.

Yeah, makes sense. I always thought Raiden was just a more 'Japanese' character, like an anime protagonist or something. I'm not in favour of one over the other really, but yeah I just always found it kinda funny how the 'manly' stereotype in games and movies was taken so seriously in the west, particularly when Snake Plissken seems like kind of a satirical character in Escape from New York anyway, like, sort of hyper masculine or 'cool' for the sake of being humourous, to some extent anyway. But you're right in saying that nowadays it's basically flipped around, femininity in men being promoted instead, which is not good either.
