Say hypothetically, you could alter the time of specifically the translation of FFIII for the SNES with the result sort of being of these two translations on the cartridge for all of the United States to play for the first time, though not completely:

A translation that de-ceonsors Ted Woosley's work and gives him more time to actually translate: http://www.ff6hacking.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=2183

Or a translation that is more based on the Japanese version than the original, though still localized. More like Slattery: http://www.ff6hacking.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=1166

Which would you choose and why?

This. Definitely this. The only shortcomings the US translation ever had were the problems with censorship and his time. There would be no arguing with any retranslation at all if he just had a little more time.

Honestly VI's translation isn't as bad as VII. Especially now that you have choices.

No one ever retranslates VII. Ever.

Seconding Woolsey's Translation Uncensored.

I like the Woosley one the way it is.

The fuck? There's no reason to use headered ROMS, and there's a Revision A/1.1 ROM with some bugfixes. What the hell is that guy doing?

Because it's a huge game to slog through.

That said, there is ONE guy currently over 60% done with it. The problem? It's on the PC version, and it's bundled with his Menu Reconstruction mod, since apparently the new translation relies on his many changes to the menu for space and alignment purposes.

Surprise surprise - the modding scene is full of amateurs.

Oh well, let's hope the hack is at least good.

I'd really like to see the FFVII Español version redone, minimum. Preferably from the source material Japanese instead of daisy-chained through English.

Having Tifa join your 'fiesta' is pretty hilarious, but it takes away from the game atmosphere.

The woolsey script starts out fine, but once you get to the Empire capital city (sorry, cannot be bothered to look up the name) you can REALLY see the quality falter.

Vector. It's not that hard to remember.
