In the N64 games it's not like this. Those are the only ones that matter according to /vr/ and /v/ so those are the only ones I played. There is talking, but no jarpig talking and events like this.

I guess I'm not understanding what jrpg elements you're referring to. Are you talking about cutscenes? Things happening in cutscenes that then affect the game world? Multiple characters talking to each other? What exactly are you talking about?
