Its not like most PCfags were playing Quake in 1080p/60 at the time either. You took what you could get.

At least you can actually see on the right, the Saturn version looks like you're staring into swamp water or something

I hate zoomers for pretending FPS were a big concern during the 5th gen. Most games ran like shit and we dealt with it just fine.

This is how level 2 begins every time as a result of this. You could also add
>fewer enemies
Even on hard mode the enemy placements are the same as normal mode which itself is below the regular normal mode.

Nice lighting tho They should have released the PSX port that supposedly ran 60fps in high res mode.

>> No.8465093

The N64 port plays the best, has the smoothest controls, innovative lighting which sets it apart from the PC original, and has large non-crowded spaces which feel good to move in for a console game. Geometry is the only thing the Saturn port has, it's inferior in every other way. The port is an interesting marvel for the Saturn, but as far as 5th gen console experience goes, Quake 64 is damn good and the only reason to shit on it is if you reflexively hate the N64. And I love the Saturn more these days, so it's nothing to do with console allegiance, I just can recognize which port is the better game.

Considering how bad Powerslave runs on Playstation I doubt that story.

The PSX Powerslave was a different engine enhanced with a ton of graphical features that bogged it down. Q1 was just a direct quick port so most likely still used dither etc.
